DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA DraftKings Initial Lineup – 1/1/19
UPDATE (1/2/19 10:53 AM) - I made a last minute adjustment last night to the team and just wanted to update the image to what I went with. Remember, if it's a last minute update, I'll generally just post the image on my Twitter (@BrettCU05) as I wouldn't have enough time to update the image/article on the site. We didn't get a win in DK like we did in FD last night, but let's get back on the winning track tonight!
UPDATE (7:09 PM) - Hi Everyone! We still don't know the status of Embiid so I'm sticking with my initial lineup as we'll probably still be able to make any needed changes as 7 of our 8 players are playing in games that start after 9:00pm. I do like the lineup now if Embiid sits, however, if he is playing, I'll make some additional changes prior to the 9:00pm tip-offs. Check back later and good luck!
Happy New Year’s Everyone!
It was a tough DFS night for both DraftKings lineups as with Anthony Davis being a late scratch, our lineups had no shot of cashing last night.
Let’s get back on track as we take a look at tonight’s 5-game NBA Slate that starts at 7:30pm tonight.
Emmanuel Mudiay is having his best season in the NBA and we’re starting to see the potential that made him a the 7th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. Mudiay seems to be highly motivated for this matchup against his former team and is averaging 16.0 ppg, 5.0 apg, 2.2 rpg over his last 5 games. Mudiay has had 39.5 DraftKings points in 4 of his last 9 games and as I expect him to put up about 20 shots tonight, I think he has some great value.
As I’m not going with Lillard at PG, I want to get at least two Trailblazers in my lineup and have done that with CJ McCollum & Maurice Harkless.
McCollum has once against been solid this season and comes into this game averaging 21.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, & 2.6 apg. McCollum is coming off an incredible performance against the 76ers in which he went for 35 points (13-18 FGM-FGA), 3 rebounds, & 3 assists and has a great matchup against the Kings who rank 29th in DEFF & 25th in DRPM vs. opposing SG’s.
We’ll have to keep an eye on the status of Maurice Harkless who is currently a GTD, however, as of right now, it looks like he is probable. I think Harkless is a great value option tonight as the matchup against the Kings is great and Harkless saw an average of 34 mpg in the back-to-back games against the Warriors in which he put up two 29+ DraftKings point performances. Harkless should be back in the starting lineup tonight if he is able to go and I think he can have another solid nights in this matchup.
I’m a bit surprised that Luke Kornet’s price tag is still very affordable, especially as he is now in the starting lineup and has seen an average of 30.5 mpg in his two starts. Kornet has a solid ability to knock down three-pointers and since becoming a starter, he is averaging 18.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg, & 5.0 apg.
Rudy Gobert has been unbelievable as of late as Gobert has recorded 7 straight double-doubles which averaging 18.0 ppg, 13.4 rpg, & 2.6 bpg. Toronto really doesn’t have anyone in their current front court that can really matchup with Gobert and as we recently saw Niokla Vucevic dominate the Raptors for a 74.0 DraftKings point night, I like the upside that Gobert brings to the table tonight.
The biggest injury question of the night is Joel Embiid as he is once again questionable with a knee injury which made him miss the 76ers last game agianst the Trailblazers. The good news with DK’s is that outside of Gobert, our current lineup features all players that have games that are staring after 9:00pm which hopefully we’ll know the status with Embiid by then and make appropriate adjustments.
As of right now, I’m going to go on the theory that they will play it safe with Embiid and if that’s the case, I lover rostering both Ben Simmons & Jimmy Butler as this should be a great matchup for both of them and expect both to have bounce back games, especially if Embiid can’t go.
At my utility spot, as I want some action with the Kings, I’m going with Bogdan Bogdanovic who looks like be coming into this own as of late, as over his past 5 games, he is averaging 19.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.0 apg. Bogdanovic has seen 30+ minutes in 3 of his last 4 games and has had a solid 23.1% usage rate when on the floor.
Check back later for updates!
