DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA DraftKings Initial Lineup – 1/16/19
It’s Wednesday and we have an exciting 8-game NBA slate tonight that starts at 7:00 pm!
Let’s take a look at our “initial lineup” for tonight!
We’re going to want to get some action in the GS/NO game tonight and as we’re not going to be paying up for Anthony Davis, I don’t mind going with Elfrid Payton at what is a very reasonable price considering the match-up. Payton is averaging 11.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 5.4 apg & 1.2 spg on the season and although he hasn’t gone off for a big game since returning from injury, he has been seeing steady minutes in the 25-30 range, including 29 minutes agianst the Clippers on Monday. Payton has triple-double upside on his best day and as this game should feature plenty of scoring, I think Payton will at worse be able to get a double-double with points & assists tonight.
James Harden has seen his price jump up to $13,000, however, it’s hard to go against this guy right now considering he is really the only offense that Rockets have. Harden continues to put up incredible scoring totals, including going for a 57-point, 9 rebound, 2 assist, 2 steals, and 1 block performance this past Monday agianst the Grizzlies. What’s even more impressive, is that Harden has limited his turnovers as of late as he is averaging less than 5 TO’s a game over last three games which is incredible considering the amount of time he has the ball in his hands.
Gary Clark is a decent value option today as not only did he see 26 minutes of action agianst Memphis on Monday, he could be starting tonight after Daniel House had to be send down to the G-League as his two-way contract was up. Clark could be in line for 30+ minutes tonight and should be able to hit value at his low-price tag.
Al Horford has been cleared to play 30-minutes again and as his price sits below $6,000, I think he a great option on DraftKings, especially as he qualifies for the PF spot. Horford is averaging 11.5 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3.9 apg, & 1.3 bpg on the season, however, as this is a big game for the Celtics, I see Horford seeing a full boat of minutes agianst a Toronto team that doesn’t really have anyone down low that can defend the crafty veteran. Horford is averaging 12.5 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 5.5 apg, & 1.5 bpg in 34.5 mpg against Toronto this season and I’m expecting a similar stat line tonight.
Rudy Gobert is coming off a monster 18-point, 25 rebound, 3 assist, 2 block performance against the Pistons this Monday night and the match-up doesn’t get much better as he is going against Clippers team that really doesn’t have anyone that can contain him. Gobert is avenging 14.2 ppg, 17.6 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.6 bpg, 1.2 spg over his last 5 games and I think he is going to have no problem going for 50+ DraftKings points tonight.
I’m sticking with the Celtics and going with Jaylen Brown for now, however, this will be dependent if Marcus Smart is able to go tonight against the Raptors. Brown is one of the tougher guys to roster in DFS as although he has a high ceiling, he also has a low floor as evident by his last 4 games in which he posted DraftKings totals of 36.5, 18.0, 8.0, & 40.25. If Smart can’t go tonight, then Brown should be in the starting lineup and if that is the case, I think he is worth the risk at his price.
Royce O’ Neale came back to earth agianst the Pistons last Monday as he didn’t even attempt a shot from the field in his 27 minutes of action, however, I’m not afraid to get O’Neale back in our lineups as he still has great value at his $4,500 price tag, considering he should be seeing 30+ minutes tonight in a good matchup agianst the Clippers. Neale put up back-to-back performances of 34.75 & 32.75 DraftKings points in his two games before his dud agianst the Pistons and I think he’ll be able to get us about 30 DraftKings points tonight.
We’ll have to make sure that Dennis Smith Jr. is out again tonight (currently questionable with an illness), however, if he can’t go, I’ll be happy to take the value with Jalen Brunson who is back seeing quality minutes with JJ Barea out of the season. Brunson put down a monster 31.75 DraftKings point game agianst the 76ers in early January and if he is able to see another 29 minutes, like he did against Golden State on Sunday, I think he’ll easily hit value.
