DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA DraftKings Initial Lineup – 1/2/19

Update (6:18 PM) - Hi Everyone! Made some changes. I decided to go with some value with the Hornets Devonte' Graham & Willy Hernangomez who both will be starting today in a decent matchup aginast the Mavericks. Kyrie Irving is out so I do have Jalyen Brown & Terry Rozier now in the lineup. With all the money I've saved, I have a great duo in Anthony Davis (who is probable) and Julius Randle who have a great matchup against the Nets. Image is updated below! Good Luck!

Hi Everyone!

We had a solid start to the new year as our 268.25-point performance last night was enough in DraftKings to cash in either our GPP’s & 50/50’s.

As a reminder, especially for today’s initial lineup which currently features some value plays based on possible injuries, I’ll reevaluate my lineup up later and released an updated lineup around 6:30pm tonight!

Also, don't forget to check out our NBA FanDuel initial lineup for tonight!

Let’s get back onthe winning  track with our DK lineup as we take a look at the initial lineup for tonight’s 9-game NBA slate that starts at 7:00pm.

Jeff Teague & Derrick Rose are once against GTD’s with ankle injuries and currently it looks like Teague is questionable while Rose is doubtful. If both aren’t able to suit up, you have to continue to like Tyus Jones even though his price has gone up to $5,600. Jones has averaged 37 mpg over the Timberwolves last two games and he has made the most of his opportunity as he averaged 37.5 DraftKings points in those two games.

It’s going to be interesting to see the rotations for the Wizards at the SF position with Porter Jr. likely back, however, with Wall out for the season, I think Beal is almost a must play tonight agianst the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta plays at a fast pace and has been awful agianst SG’s this season as they rank just 26th in DEFF agianst them. Beal is averaging 23.6 ppg, 4.7 apg, 4.9 rpg, & 1.2 spg on the season and currently has a usage rate of 25.5% which should only increase now that Wall is out. Atlanta will be without two of their better defenders in Bazemore & Prince and I can see Beal going for 60+ DraftKings points tonight.

In our FanDuel lineup, I currently have Terry Rozier in my lineup (only if Kyrie Irving ends up not playing….) however, as Rozier is a bit more expensive on DK, I think we have some solid value in Jaylen Brown of the Celtics who salary is currently sitting at just $4,900. Brown has looked solid over his last three games as he has averaged 18.0 ppg & 4.3 RPG while shooting an incredible 66.0% from the field. Brown has posted two games of 42.25+ DraftKings points in his last 6 games and although he has a low floor, he has shown that even if Irving plays, he still has a decent ceiling that can get us 40+ points.

As we’ve already mentioned earlier in this article, the Hawks will be without Bazemore & Prince which means that John Collins will have to do some heavy lifting tonight on the both ends of the court if Atlanta has any chance to pull out a victory on the road.  Over his last 4 games, Collins is averaging 19.5 ppg, 12.3 rpg, & 2.5 apg in 32.5 mpg. Washington ranks just 28th in DEFF vs. opposing PF’s and I think Collins can flirt with a 20/20 game tonight if the Hawks can keep it close.

We’ll need to keep a close eye on the Orlando injury report as we currently have Mo Bamba in the lineup as Nikola Vucevic is currently questionable with a calf injury which forced him out early in the Magic’s game agianst the Hornets this past Monday. Bamba was solid in replacing Vucevic on Monday as in just 18 minutes of action, he posted a 24.0 DraftKings point performance (5 pts, 12 reb, 2 blk). Bamba put up a 27.5 DraftKings point performance when he filled in for Vucevic agianst the Spurs in mid-December and as the matchup against the Bulls doesn’t get much better, Bamba has great value tonight if Vucevic can’t go.

With all the injuries that the Hawks have right now, we’re confident that DeAndre’ Bembry is going to continue to see 25-30 minutes in the near feature and with his ability to fill out a stat sheet, he has some solid upside at his current price of $5,500. Bembry is averaging 6.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.0 bpg, & 1.4 spg in 27.4 mpg over his last 5 games and I think he can only go up when it comes to his scoring as he has shot just 36.1% from the field & 20.0% from beyond the arc in that span. Bembry has put up an average of 10 shots per game over his last two games and as the matchup of the Wizards is a solid one as Washington ranks just 29th in DRPM vs. SF’s, I like Bembry tonight to get us at least 30 DraftKings points.

We were all over Justice Winslow last week against the Cavaliers and he rewarded us with a monster 52.75 DraftKings point performance (24 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals) and was on his way for another big game agianst Minnesota on Sunday before getting into foul trouble in the 2nd half. Winslow has taken over the starting PG duties for the Heat while Dragic is out and as he is averaging 17.0 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 4.8 apg, & 2.6 spg in 31.2 mpg over his last 5 games, I don’t see any way I don’t have Winslow in my lineup tonight in this matchup.

I think D’Angelo Russell is in a solid spot tonight as he should be well rested after getting a day off last Saturday and has one of the better matchups against the New Orleans. Russell is a bit of risky play as he generally needs to put up 30 points to have a monster night, and although he can have a low floor, he certainly has a high-upside as we’ve seen him top 43.0 DraftKings points in 3 of his last 8 games. On the season, Russell is averaging 17.9 ppg, 6.1 apg, 3.8 rpg however, as he is coming off a solid 33-point performance agianst Charlotte and should get plenty of shots up agianst the Pelicans, I like Russell at his price-point tonight.
