Update (6:23 PM) - We were right with our initial thoughts about Kyrie Irving and we are now going with a 3-man stack of Celtics with Rozier, Hayward, and Morris. I like Jaylen Brown also, however, not as much as our Mitchell/Lou Williams combo. We still have A. Davis & J. Nurkic as some high-cost options and have decent value with Royce O'Neale & Tony Parker. Image is updated. Good Luck!
DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/14/19
We didn’t have time to make the updates yesterday as I was out watching football, however, our initial lineup still got the job done as our 308.7-point performance had us cashing in both our GPP’s & 50/50’s.
Let’s keep the winning going as we take an initial look of tonight’s FanDuel, 6-game NBA “Main” Slate that starts at 7:30pm!
I’m currently looking to find value at the PG position tonight and although we’ll have to monitor these picks, I’m fine as of right now going with Boston’s Terry Rozier & Charlotte’s Tony Parker.
Kyrie Irving is currently questionable with a quadriceps injury and if he is not able to take the court tonight, Rozier becomes almost a must play at his current $3,900 price-tag. Rozier is averaging 8.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.8 apg on the season, however, we have seen over the past two seasons how much his usage skyrockets when Irving is on the bench in street clothes. Rozier recently averaged 36.8 FanDuel points per game when Irving missed a couple of games in early January due to an eye injury and as the Nets currently rank just 24th vs. opposing PG’s, I think we can pencil Rozier in for 30+ if Irving doesn’t play.
My “low-scoring” play will be with at our other PG spot as I don’t mind taking a chance with Charlotte’s Tony Parker in his return to San Antonio tonight. Parker is averaging 9.4 ppg, 3.8 apg, 1.5 rpg as Kemba Walker’s backup this season however, he has flashed some upside this season as he does have 6 games up 25 FanDuel points. Walker was recently rested on the 2nd half of a back-to-back which I image was to ensure that his legs are fresh for tonight and as I think Parker will see the minutes and won’t hesitate putting up shots, I think he could be a sneaky value play tonight.
As much as I would like to afford Harden in this spot, I’m not going away from Donavon Mitchell who has been crushing value since having to take the PG duties over for the Jazz while Rubio, Exum, and Neto are all out. Mitchell has been lights out as of late as over his past 5 games, he is averaging 30.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.0 bpg, & 1.2 spg. Mitchell has averaged 55.8 FanDuel points over his last two games since filling in at the PG spot and as Detroit ranks just 21st against opposing PG’s, I think Mitchell will put up another 55+ FanDuel points tonight.
One of the better games to target tonight will be with LAC/NO as this match-up has by far the highest Over/Under on the slate, currently set at 238 points. For the Clippers, we’re going to get Lou Williams in the lineup as although he comes off the bench and generally sees around 25-30 minutes, Williams can put up points in a hurry and currently is averaging 21.2 ppg, 2.4 rpg, & 5.2 apg over his last 5 games. Williams has a pretty safe floor at around 20-25 FanDuel points, however, you have to love the 45-50 FanDuel point upside he has in a game that the Clippers will need his scoring.
As we’ve been doing over the past few games, we’re stacking some Utah Jazz value at the SF spot in Royce O’Neale & Jae Crowder. O’Neale is averaging 38.5 mpg since Neto went down and has taken advantage of his extra playing time as in those two games, O’Neale is averaging 12.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.0 bpg, and 1.5 spg. O’Neale has seen his price-tag go up, however, as it’s still below the $5,000 mark, I think he still is a steal. Crowder isn’t seeing any extra minutes, however, I think he has also has decent value as despite shooting just a combined 12.5% (4-24) from the field over his last two games, he still is averaging almost 5x value in those games as he has averaging about 24.0 FanDuel points in those two games. Crowder is bound to start shooting the ball a bit better and if he can knock down some three-pointers tonight, I think we’ll see him put up a 30+ FanDuel point performance.
As we mentioned under Lou Williams, the LAC/NO has by far the highest Over/Under on the slate and as the Clippers have struggled against opposing bigs all season, I’m going to spend up for Anthony Davis tonight. Davis was a disappointment for us against the Timberwolves over the weekend as although he came out of the gates hot and put up about 25-FanDuel points in the 1st quarter alone, Davis struggled down the stretch and didn’t come close to his value after falling to reach 50 FanDuel points. Despite the lackluster night, I have no hesitations getting Davis back in the lineup tonight as on the season, he is averaging 28.9 ppg, 13.3 rpg, & 2.6 bpg.
JaMychal Green makes a decent value pick tonight as the 4-year veteran out of Alabama has been playing really well as of late, averaging 17.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg, & 1.0 spg over his last three games. Green could see a slight uptick in minutes with Kyle Anderson on the sidelines and I don’t mind the match-up against the Rockets, as Green recently put up a 32.2 FanDuel point performance (17 pts, 6 reb, 2ast, 1 blk, 1 stl) against them about 2-weeks ago.
I’m completing my 4-man Utah stack as I’m paying up for the Jazz’s Ruby Gobert. Gobert comes into this game averaging 14.7 ppg, 12.5 rpg, 2.1 apg, & 2.0 bpg on the season. Gobert struggled a bit in a recent game against the Pistons however, that’s not going to scare me off him, especially after Gobert has averaged 48.4 FanDuel points over his last two games. The Jazz will need Gobert to stay out of foul trouble as they’ll need his size agianst Drummond & Griffin, however, he can stay on the floor 35-40 minutes tonight, I think he has 55+ FanDuel point upside.
