Update (6:25 PM) - Hi Everyone! I'm keeping with the original lineup tonight. It's a bit of risk not going with Westbrook/George, but I like the balance of our lineup and I think we have some great upside tonight. Good Luck!
DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/15/19
DFS provided me with a reminder last night that even when you our confident your team, it doesn’t mean it won’t absolutely blow up in your face. Our 241.8-point performance was one of the weaker performances we’ve had this season as outside of Anthony Davis, basically everything went wrong.
The good news is that is DFS which means we can just shake off last night’s contests and get right back to some winning lineups tonight!!!
Here is our initial lineup for the 6-game NBA FanDuel “Main” Slate that starts at 7:00pm tonight.
We’re going to start with a 3-man stack of Los Angeles Lakers in Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Kyle Kuzma in their solid match-up at home against the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls are one of the worst teams in the NBA this season, coming in with just 10-33 record and I expect the Lakers come to play in this one after a disappointing 101-95 loss to Cleveland on Sunday.
Lonzo Ball is always going to be an inconsistent scorer, however, he has been a solid DFS contributor as of late with his ability to fill up the stat sheets with assists, rebounds, & steals. Ball is averaging 11.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 7.5 apg, & 2.0 spg in 36 mpg over his last 4 games and faces a Bulls team that ranks just 17th vs. opposing PG’s.
With LeBron out of the lineup, Ingram has been seeing a bunch of playing time and over his last 5 games, he is averaging 17.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg, & 3.0 apg. Ingram can have a lower floor than what you would expect for a guy that has a decent usage rate, however, he does have 45+ FanDuel point upside on any given night.
Kyle Kuzma is just an old-fashion gunner who without hesitation, will put up as many shots as he can when has the ball. Kuzma is averaging 27 ppg, 6 rpg, & 1.7 apg over his three games and as he is putting up over 21 shots per game over the Lakers past 5 games, I have no problem getting him in my lineups tonight.
At our other PG spot, I’m currently going with Denver’s Jamal Murray as I think he is going to be in a position tonight in which the Nuggets are going to need him to be an offensive force agianst the Warriors. Murray is having a solid season for the Nuggets as he comes into this game averaging 18.5 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 4.7 apg, & 0.9 spg. Murray has topped 50+ FanDuel points in 3 of his last 13 games so he doesn’t have the upside and although he put up his worst game of the season against the Warriors, I don’t have a problem taking a chance on him tonight at home.
At the SG position, I’m going to have a hard time not going with Philadelphia’s Jimmy Butler & Oklahoma City’s Dennis Schroder as they both are in revenge games agianst their former clubs.
Unless you decided to stay away from NBA news earlier this season, you already know all the drama that went on in Minnesota with Jimmy Butler and how, during a practice, he took bench players and defeated the rest of the Minnesota starting five. Butler is going to be as motivated to put on an absolute show agianst Wiggins & Anthony-Towns tonight and as I’m sure his usage is going to be a bit higher than normal tonight, I think he is going to have a huge night.
Dennis Schroder lit up his old team for 18 pts, 8 ast, 3 reb, & 2 blk in his first appearance against them this season and there is no reason that Schroder can’t put up huge numbers again, especially as the Hawks have really struggled agianst PG’s/SG’s on the season. Schroder is coming off a solid 41.2 FanDuel point performance agianst the Spurs this past Saturday and as I think he will see some extra run tonight, I think Schroder easily hits value agianst the Hawks.
Justise Winslow continues to take advantage of his time as the Miami Heat’s PG as over his past 5 games, the former 10th overall pick out of Duke is averaging 15.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg, & 6.4 apg. Winslow has triple-double upside on any given night and as he just posted performances of 36.9 & 41.4 FanDuel points against two tough defenses team in the Celtics & Grizzlies, I think he can continue his recent run of strong play agianst the Bucks tonight.
Omari Spellman is our “low-scoring” punt play as of right now as with Dewayne Dedmon out of the lineup on Sunday, Spellman got the start and 29 minutes of action in which he turned in a solid 31.7 FanDuel point performance. Dedmon is currently doubtful for tonight so if Spellman gets the start, you might as well use him as your “punt” play for the minimum price.
Steven Adams doesn’t have the upside of an Embiid, Jokic, or Antony-Towns, however, he has been a solid and steady DFS player this season and I think he has some solid upside in a good match-up agianst a Hawks team that has struggled against opposing bigs all season. Adams comes into this game averaging 15.4 ppg, 10.1 rpg, 1.7 apg, & 1.5 spg on the season and as I see a lot of lobs coming from Westbrook in this one, I think Adams will be able to get us 40+ FanDuel points tonight.
Check back later for updates.
