DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/16/19
It’s Wednesday and we have an exciting 8-game NBA slate tonight that starts at 7:00 pm!
Let’s take a look at our “initial lineup” for tonight!
We’ll have to make sure that Dennis Smith Jr. is out again tonight (currently questionable with an illness), however, if he can’t go, I’ll be happy to take the value with Jalen Brunson who is back seeing quality minutes with JJ Barea out of the season. Brunson put down a monster 39.2 FanDuel point game agianst the 76ers in early January and if he is able to see another 29 minutes, like he did against Golden State on Sunday, I think he’ll easily hit value.
We’re going to want to get some action in the GS/NO game tonight and as we’re not going to be paying up for Anthony Davis, I don’t mind going with Elfrid Payton at what is a very reasonable price considering the match-up. Payton is averaging 11.0 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 5.4 apg & 1.2 spg on the season and although he hasn’t gone off for a big game since returning from injury, he has been seeing steady minutes in the 25-30 range, including 29 minutes agianst the Clippers on Monday. Payton has triple-double upside on his best day and as this game should feature plenty of scoring, I think Payton will at worse be able to get a double-double with points & assists tonight.
James Harden has seen his price jump up to $14,000, however, it’s hard to go against this guy right now considering he is really the only offense that Rockets have. Harden continues to put up incredible scoring totals, including going for a 57-point, 9 rebound, 2 assist, 2 steals, and 1 block performance this past Monday agianst the Grizzlies. What’s even more impressive, is that Harden has limited his turnovers as of late as he is averaging less than 5 TO’s a game over last three games which is incredible considering the amount of time he has the ball in his hands.
I’m sticking with Jaylen Brown for now, however, this will be dependent if Marcus Smart is able to go tonight against the Raptors. Brown is one of the tougher guys to roster in DFS as although he has a high ceiling, he also has a low floor as evident by his last 4 games in which he posted FanDuel totals of 38.2, 15.8, 8.9, & 40.9. If Smart can’t go tonight, then Brown should be in the starting lineup and if that is the case, I think he is worth the risk at his price.
Gary Clark is a decent “punt” option today as not only did he see 26 minutes of action agianst Memphis on Monday, he could be starting tonight after Daniel House had to be send down to the G-League as his two-way contract was up. Clark could be in line for 30+ minutes tonight and should be able to hit value at his minimum price tag.
I’m paying up for Kevin Durant tonight as although the Warriors are on a back-to-back, Durant played less than 30 minutes last night in Denver due to the fact that Golden State blew the Nuggets out of the water. Durant is averaging 28.2 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 6.1 apg, & 1.1 bpg on the season and you have to love the match-up tonight against the Pelicans who currently rank just 29th vs. opposing SF’s.
We needed some value at the PF spot tonight and I’m going to roll the dice with DJ Wilson as of right now as he is coming off two straight productive games in which he has posted 20+ FanDuel points. Wilson has been very active when he has been on the court this season and as I think they’ll need his size agianst the Grizzlies tonight, I think he sees 20+ minutes and puts up another 20+ FanDuel point performance.
Marcus Morris put up a disappointing game agianst the Nets on Monday, however, I don’t think there is any reason we should shy away from tonight, especially as his price tag currently sits under $5,000. Morris is averaging 15.4 ppg & 6.0 rpg and I think he actually benefits a bit with Irving back in the lineup as Irving has done a great job setting him up for some wide-open three-pointers this season. Morris is shooting 49.5% from the field on the season and as he has gone for 30+ FanDuel points in 4 of his last 10 games played, I think he is a bargain tonight.
Rudy Gobert is coming off a monster 18-point, 25 rebound, 3 assist, 2 block performance against the Pistons this Monday night and the match-up doesn’t get much better as he is going against Clippers team that really doesn’t have anyone that can contain him. Gobert is avenging 14.2 ppg, 17.6 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.6 bpg, 1.2 spg over his last 5 games and I think he is going to have no problem going for 50+ FanDuel points tonight.
