DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/18/19
We got back on track last night with our FanDuel lineups as our 299.6-point performance had us cashing in both our GPP’s & 50/50’s!
Let’s keep the winning going tonight as we take a look at tonight’s 7-game NBA Slate that starts at 7:00 pm.
We’re focusing mostly on the later games tonight as the GS/LAC & NO/POR match-ups are by far the best-looking games in terms of DFS tonight.
The GS/LAC game has an incredible over/under of 241.5 at the moment and because of that, I’m paying up for some of the stars in this match-up.
For the Warriors, we are paying the high price for both Stephen Curry & Kevin Durant while designating our “low-scoring” spot for Jonas Jerebko.
Stephen Curry has been on a tear as of late as over his last 4-games, the sharp-shooting PG out of Davison is averaging 37.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg, & 5.0 apg. In those games, Curry is shooting an incredible 54.5% from the field & 55.0% from beyond the arc. Curry had a 35-point performance against the Clippers earlier this season and as Los Angeles ranks just 27th against opposing PG’s on the season, I think Curry is worth the price tonight.
Kevin Durant broke out of a recent mini-slump, in terms of DFS production, last Wednesday as he went off for an impressive 30 points, 15 rebound, 4 assist, 2 steals, 1 block performance against the Pelicans. Durant has crushed the Clippers this season as in his two games against them (one game w/o Curry available) he is averaging 34.0 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 7.5 apg, 2.5 bpg, & 1.0 spg. The Clippers rank 26th against opposing SF’s on the season and as the Warriors could put up a huge number tonight, I don’t mind stacking both Curry & Durant.
I need to “punt” my 2nd PF spot and Jerebko seems like the best option for who is available at the min price of $3,500. Jerebko only saw 5 minutes of action against the Pelicans on Wednesday, however had seen an average of about 18 mpg in his previous 4 games. Jerebko has shown at times this season that he can put up some stat lines as he had a 37.7 FanDuel point performance in just 20 minutes against the Mavericks earlier this season and although I’m not expecting much from him tonight, we could do worse.
We wanted to get at least on LA Clipper in our line up and as the Clippers will need a bunch of scoring tonight to stay with the Warriors, who better to roster than Lou Williams. Williams is averaging 18.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.9 apg on the season and has been playing well as of late as he is averaging 21.8 ppg on 50.0% shooting from the field over his last 5 games. Williams is averaging 25.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 7.5 apg, & 1.0 spg in his two games against the Warriors this season and I expect him to continue those numbers tonight at home.
The NO/POR match-up has a solid over/under of 233 and I think targeting the mid-level players from both teams is a solid strategy tonight in this match-up.
For the Pelicans, were going to go with Elfrid Payton & Nikola Mirotic.
Elfrid Payton looks fully healthy after missing 22 games with a broken finger and has been a solid additional to the Pelicans this season as he comes into this game averaging 10.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 5.2 apg, & 1.2 spg on the season. Payton has seen between 27-29 minutes over his last 4 games and is coming a solid 33 FanDuel point performance against the Warriors in which he went for 7 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists, & 2 steals. Payton does have triple-double upside and as I think he is price is still too low, I think he has some of the best value at the PG spot tonight.
Nikola Mirotic looks like he has shaken off the rust from his recent injury that forced him to miss 12 games recently as he put down a monster 45.5 FanDuel point performance (29 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast, 1 blk, 1 stl) against the Warriors on Wednesday. The most encouraging aspect of Mirotic’s performance was that he saw 28 minutes which means it looks like Alvin Gentry is comfortable letting him run for a full amount minutes going forward. Mirotic can put up points in a hurry for the Pelicans and as the Trailblazers rank just 25th vs. opposing SF’s, I think Mirotic is a steal at $6,200.
For the Trailblazers, we’re going to be going with CJ McCollum & Al-Farouq Aminu.
McCollum is one of the better pure scorers in the league and comes into this favorable match-up against the Pelicans averaging 20.6 ppg, 3.7 rpg, & 2.6 apg. McCollum has the potential to go off for a 40+ point performance on any given night and although he struggled against the Pelicans earlier this season, I think he could be in for a big night considering the Pelicans ran just 28th vs. opposing SG’s on the season.
Al-Farouq Aminu is somewhat of a swiss-army knife for the Portland Trailblazers as he pretty much does a little bit of everything for Portland. On the season, Aminu is averaging 9.6 ppg & 8.2 rpg and over his last three games, Aminu has been averaging a double-double. Aminu put up a solid 17 points, 10 rebound game against the Pelicans earlier this season and I think he has 30+ FanDuel point upside tonight.
Rounding out the team tonight, we’re going with some value at the center position in Ante Zizic who should see a full run of playing time with Larry Nance Jr. & Tristin Thompson out of the lineup. Zizic has gone off for 33+ FanDuel point performances in 2 of his last 3 games and as the Cavs will need his size against the Jazz, he just has too much value to pass up on at this price. We will have to keep an eye on the DeMarcus Cousins situation as if he plays tonight & sees decent minutes, we might have to move some things around to get him in, however, as I don’t think he’ll see a lot of time if he plays, my initial thoughts are to go with the value in Zizic.
Check back later for updates.
