Update (6:36 PM) - Had to make a few updates! Image is updated below! Good Luck!
DFS - Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/19/19
Disappointing night for us last night as our lineups featured Lou Williams who was a late scratch in a great matchup agianst the Warriors. It was even worse on DraftKings as we had Lou Williams & DeMar DeRozan who was also a late scratch. It was just one of those nights.
Let’s take a look at who we have going for tonight’s 8-game NBA slate that starts at 7:00pm.
At the PG position, we’re going with some value currently with both Atlanta’s Jeremy Lin & Miami’s Tyler Johnson.
Jeremy Lin missed last game due to a llliness, however, he looks like he is going to be able to give it a go tonight and could have some the best value on the slate as both Trae Young & John Collins are currently questionable with what we can presume is that same illness. Lin has been playing solid in backup role as of late and had a solid 34.3 FanDuel point performance recently in a spot start agianst Toronto. Lin had his best game of the season versus Boston earlier this season as he posted a 48 FanDuel point performance (19 pts, 5 reb, 10 ast, 3 stl) and as he could see 30+ min tonight, he is going to be a popular play if Young can’t go.
Tyler Johnson entered the starting lineup last night with Jason Richardson out due to an illness and put up a solid 29.5 FanDuel point performance (16 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast, 1 blk) last night agianst the Pistons. Miami has been hesitant playing Dwayne Wade major minutes on the 2nd half of back-to-backs and if Richardson is out agianst tonight, I expect Johnson to once again see 30-35 minutes and should easily hit value at his $3,900 price.
I promise….I’m sticking with James Harden tonight at his high price tag tonight in his match-up against the Lakers. Harden has been putting up video game numbers as of late and that continues this week after putting up performances of 57 & 58 points against the Grizzlies & Nets. This should be a fast paced game against the Lakers and Harden could easily go off for 80+ FanDuel points tonight.
I’m going back to Atlanta for our 2nd SG spot and going to roster Kevin Huerter of the Hawks. Hueter might not be the flashiest NBA player but he has been productive as of late as over his past 5 games the rookie out of Maryland is averaging 17.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, & 3.3 apg. Hueter has seen 37+ minutes in each of his last 4 games and with him still being reasonably priced, I think he has great value at just $5,500.
I’m going to need some more value, so I’m attacking that LAL/HOU match-up and going with Gerald Green of the Rockets. Green has been quite productive in the two games since Clint Capela went down as in those games, he is averaging 14.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg, & 1.5 bpg in 35.5 mpg. Green has taken an average of 14 shots per game in those last two games and I expect another strong performance in a favorable match-up against the Lakers.
It’s pretty incredible what Giannis Antetokounmpo has done recently as he put up a triple-double up agianst Miami in just 25 minutes of action on Tuesday, while going off for a 52.7 FanDuel point performance (27 pts, 11 reb, 3 ast, 2 blk, 1 stl) in just 22 minutes against the Grizzlies on Wednesday. Antetokounmpo is averaging 26.4 ppg, 12.5 rpg, 6.0 apg, 1.5 bpg & 1.4 spg and as he has a solid match-up against a Magic team on the 2nd half of a back-to-back, I love the idea of pairing Antetokounmpo with Harden tonight.
Bobby Portis saw an impressive 28 minutes in the first game in which the Bulls were without Wendell Carter, and he showed us that he could be a very valuable DFS player as he had a double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, & 4 assits in his match-up against the Nuggets on Thursday. Portis has been able to produce when given the minutes and as it looks like he’ll be seeing 25-30 minutes going forward, I’m going to get Portis in my lineup while his price is still just $5,200.
To complete my Rockets stack tonight, I’m going with PJ Tucker who is coming off his best performance of the season, going for 20 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and 2 steals. Houston just picked up Faried, but he won’t be available until next week, which means the Rockets will need another 40+ minutes from Tucker if this game stays close. It’s probably unrealistic to think that Tucker will be able to go for another 40+ FanDuel point performance, however, I think he’ll still be able to hit 5x-6x value.
Rounding out the team tonight, we’re going back to Ante Zizic of the Cavaliers on the basis that Tristan Thompson is out against with his foot injury. Zizic had a slow start yesterday, however, still came through with a 33 FanDuel point performance and has been productive as of late, as he even had two 30+ FanDuel point performances with Thompson in the lineup. I’m a bit concerned that he logged 34 minutes last night, however, if Thompson can’t go, the Cavs really don’t have any other big man to rely on with Larry Nance Jr. currently out.
Check back later for updates.
