DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/22/19
It’s Tuesday and we have a solid 4-game NBA Slate that starts at 7:00pm tonight!
Let’s check our initial FanDuel lineup.
The Clippers/Mavericks might be the lowest Over/Under (222.5 points) on the slate tonight, however, it’s going to be hard not to go with both Patrick Beverley & Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tonight at our PG spots as they just have too much value to pass up on. The Clippers were without both Lou Williams & Danilo Gallinari against the Spurs on Sunday which opened up major minutes for both Beverley (41 mins) & Gilgeous-Alexander (37 minutes). Beverley responded with his best DFS performance of the season, putting up a monster 53.9 FanDuel-point performance (18 pts, 12 reb, 5 ast, 4 stl, 1 blk) and although Gilgeous-Alexander struggled as he only had a 13.3 FanDuel point performance (7 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast), the opportunity was there for Gilgeous-Alexander as he did put up 15 shots. Dallas has struggled against opposing PG’s on the season and between the fact that the Mavericks are on the 2nd half of a back-to-back and that it looks like both Williams & Gallinari will be out again, I’m liking the duo of Beverley & Gilgeous-Alexander tonight.
Devin Booker has struggled a bit as of late, however, he did put up a solid 50.9 FanDuel point performance against the Hornets on Saturday and you have to love that his price is currently sitting under $8,000. Booker wasn’t overly impressive in his match-up against the Timberwolves on Sunday, however, he was in a bit of foul trouble and seemed maybe a bit tired after logging 38 minutes the night before. Booker has as much upside as anyone on the slate in what should be a high scoring game and I’m expecting him to be a very popular play tonight.
At our other SG spot, we’re going with Buddy Hield tonight who has really come into his own this season for the surprising Kings. Hield had an off night last night, which probably does us a favor tonight as he should still be pretty fresh after logging just 27 minutes in the Kings blowout loss to the Nets yesterday. Hield comes into this game averaging 20.3 ppg, 2.2 apg, & 5.0 rpg and does have 50+ FanDuel point upside as he showed in his 52.3 FanDuel point performance (35 pts, 9 reb, 3 ast, 1 blk) against the Pistons on Saturday. Sacramento will need a big game from Hield tonight if they are going to have a chance to win in Toronto tonight.
Paul George is putting up some incredible numbers for the Thunder this season and comes into this game averaging 26.8 ppg, 4.0 apg, 7.9 rpg, & 2.3 spg. George is averaging 50.1 FanDuel points over his last 4-games and went off for a solid 49.6 FanDuel point performance (37 pts, 8 reb, 2 ast, 1 stl) against the Trailblazers earlier in the month. This match-up has a solid 227 Over/Under and as we’re not going with Westbrook, we want to make sure we have George in our lineups.
Maurice Harkless is back from another knee injury and although he has only seen a combined 39 minutes in those two starts, I think we’re going to start seeing his time increase as he does bring another solid offensive threat to the Trailblazers lineup. Harkless went off for a 28.1 FanDuel point performance (5 pts, 8 reb, 1 ast, 3 blk, 1 stl) against Oklahoma City earlier this month and if he can see 25 minutes tonight, I think he has 30+ FanDuel point upside.
As we already mentioned with Patrick Beverley & Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Clippers look like they will once again be without Lou Williams & Danilo Gallinari which means we are going to want to spend up for Tobias Harris as he becomes the clear-cut top scoring option for the Clippers. Harris went off for a 63.3 FanDuel point performance (27 pts, 9 reb, 9 ast, 1 blk, 3 stl) against the Spurs on Sunday and as he is going to have an increased usage rate tonight, I think Harris is almost a must play against a Mavericks team that ranks just 24th vs. opposing PF’s.
We’ll have to keep an eye on the Phoenix injury report as if both Richard Holmes & Deandre Ayton are not able to suit up again, we’ll have to go with the value in Dragan Bender who went off for a double-double (12 pts, 10 reb, 2 ast, 1 blk) against the Timberwolves on Sunday. Currently, Ayton looks doubtful, however, Holmes is more of a GTD. If Holmes is able to go, I’ll probably switch some things around to get him in my lineups.
Rounding out our team tonight will be Karl-Anthony Towns in his prime match-up against the Phoenix Suns. Towns went off for a 61.4 FanDuel point performance (30 pts, 12 reb, 4 ast, 1 blk, 4 stl) against the Suns on Sunday and with the Suns being down a few of their big guys, Towns is probably in the best spot of any DFS player tonight. Towns is averaging 22.4 ppg, 12.2 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.9 bpg, 1.0 spg and is well worth the high price tag tonight.
