Update (6:16 PM) - Hi Everyone! Decided to make some adjustments and get all the action I can with the Nuggets tonight as Jokic is out. With the money we saved, we were able to fit in Antetokounmpo at SF. Image is updated below! Good luck!
DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/25/19
It’s Friday and we have a big 10-game NBA Slate tonight that starts at 7:00 pm.
Let’s see who we have going for our initial FanDuel lineup today.
We’re going for some value at the PG position as of right now and rostering the Nets Shabazz Napier and the Timberwolves Jerryd Bayless.
Shabazz Napier has had a productive season in mostly a back-up role, however, he has produced when he has seen in minutes and as it looks like Spencer Dinwiddie will be sidelined due to a thumb injury, I think Napier could be some great value at just $3,800 tonight. In a 7-game stretch between December & January, Napier was putting up an impressive stat line of 15.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, & 4.6 apg when he was seeing 27 mpg. Brooklyn has a nice match-up against the Knicks tonight who rank just 18th vs. opposing PG’s this season and as I think he sees about 20-25 minutes, tonight, I think he can get us 25-30 FanDuel points.
The Minnesota backcourt injury report is currently looking how the Jazz looked recently as Teague, Rose, and Jones are all questionable. Based on the news coming out of Minnesota, I think it’s more likely that Teague & Jones are doubtful and I’d be shocked to see Rose back in the lineup after not coming out for the 2nd half last night. If all three can’t go tonight, I think we see Jerryd Bayless will get all the minutes he can handle and the 10-year veteran has shown in his last two games that he still can be productive as he has posted back-to-back games of 32.4 & 35.3 FanDuel points.
I’m not paying up for Harden as of right now, and instead going to start off the SG position with the Nets D’Angelo Russell. Russell is averaging 19.3 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 6.5 apg & 1.1 spg on the season and has been on fire as of late, as over his last five games, he is averaging 28.0 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 7.8 apg, & 1.2 spg. Russell has posted 50+ FanDuel points in 4 of his last 5 games and as he could have even higher usage with Dinwiddie out, I think he can continue putting up big numbers tonight against the Knicks.
Donovan Mitchell is starting to look like the player we saw last season as over his last 5 games, the Jazz young star has posted an average of 30.2 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 4.6 apg, & 2.0 spg. Mitchell will be facing what I would expect to be a tired and banged up Minnesota team playing on the 2nd half of a back-to-back and as I just don’t see anyone in the Timberwolves backcourt that should be able to slow Mitchell down, I think he can top 50+ FanDuel points again tonight.
Will Barton is finally healthy and I’m getting him in my roster while his price is still at just $5,100. Barton is a scorer and looked like his old self against Utah on Wednesday as in 29 minutes of action, he went off for a 43.3 FanDuel point performance (22 pts, 9 reb, 5 ast, 1 bk, 1 stl). If Barton is going to see around 30 minutes of action going forward, you need to get him in your lineups at this price.
The Clippers will continue to be without Danilo Gallinari which means it’s going to be a solid play to get Tobias Harris in your lineups. Harris is averaging 45.2 FanDuel points in the four games that Gallinari has missed and comes into this game averaging an impressive 21.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg, & 2.5 apg on the season. Outside of his recent game against Dallas, Harris is putting up about 19 shots per game lately and as this should be a high-scoring game against the Bulls, I like Harris tonight especially as he is shooting 51.9% from the field on the road this season.
Pascal Siakam has seen his price dropped recently and I will take full advantage of that tonight in a decent match-up against the Rockets. Siakam has been consistent as of late as he is averaging 13.4 ppg, 7.4 rpg, & 3.8 apg over his last 4 games and has posted 28.3+ FanDuel points in 5 of his last 6 games. Houston is not a strong in the front-court with Capela currently out and as I think Siakam is going to have a big day on the boards, I don’t mind taking a chance with him tonight.
Bobby Portis has come through as much as we expected in the last two games, however, even though he put up just a 19.4 FanDuel point performance against Atlanta on Wednesday, it was encouraging to see him get 33 minutes of action. Portis is averaging 12.5 ppg & 7.4 rpg on the season and he has as much upside as anyone at his price as if he is hitting shots, he easily has 40+ point upside tonight against a Clippers team that current ranks just 15th in the NBA vs. opposing PF’s.
Nikola Vucevic is clearly establishing himself as one of the better Centers in the NBA as he comes into this game averaging 20.5 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.2 bpg, & 1.0 spg on the season. Vucevic has dominated in his last two match-ups against Atlanta & Brooklyn, putting up 54.8 & 59.3 FanDuel point performances and find himself in another great match-up tonight against a Wizards team that ranks just 20th vs. opposing centers.
Check back later for updates.
