Update (6:26 PM) - With the news that both Butler & Chandler out, I couldn't resist the Harden/Embiid duo. We'll have to hit on our value picks but this lineup has upside. Image updated. Good Luck!
DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/5/19
We fell short of our GPP’s however, did cash in our 50/50’s last night with our 275.6-point performance. We had solid production across the board as after taking out our “low-scoring” player. Devin Booker was actually our lowest scoring player after getting just 28.6 FanDuel points, however, we did find some nice value with Domantas Sabonis who went off for 42.9 FanDuel points against the Bulls.
Let’s take a look at who we have going for tonight’s 7-game NBA Slate that starts at 7:00pm tonight.
At the PG position, we’re going to spend some money and roster both Elfrid Payton of the Pelicans and Stephen Curry of the Warriors.
I wished I pulled the trigger with Elfrid Payton last Wednesday as although I was debating it, I decided it wasn’t worth the risk if his minutes were still going to be in the 20-25 range as missing a bunch of time due to injury. Well, that was a mistake as Payton saw 34 minutes of action and put up a solid stat line of 25 points, 7 assists, & 2 rebounds. Payton has triple-double upside tonight in a great matchup agianst Cleveland and I’m going to get in my lineups tonight before we see his price increase to the $7,000 range.
The Warriors/Kings matchup has an incredible 238.5 Over/Under at the moment and I’m hoping going to get a big piece of that with Stephen Curry tonight. Curry has been outstanding as of late, as in his last two games, he is averaging 34.5 ppg, 6 rpg, & 5 spg. The Kings have really struggled against opposing PG’s this season and as Curry went off for 35 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, & 3 steals in their first matchup this season, I think Curry is worth the price tag tonight.
I’m going to do it…..I’m going to pay for Harden tonight as I’ve faded him twice during this incredible run he has had, and it’s burned me both times as you can imagine. Harden is averaging 42.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 9.4 apg, 1.2 bpg, & 1.6 spg over his past 5 games and as the matchup against Portland is a good one, I’m paying up for him tonight.
After going with Curry & Harden, we obviously going to need some value and we’re going to stick with the Houston Rockets and go with Austin Rivers & Gerald Green.
Austin Rivers is averaging a respectable 12.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, & 3.2 apg over his last 5 games and is coming off his best game as a Houston Rocket after putting up 18 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal against the Warriors on Thursday. Rivers has seen 40+ minutes in his last two games and if he is going to see that type of run, he is well worth the value at just $4,300.
Gerald Green has also seen in uptick in production since the injuries to Gordon and Green as the 11-year veteran and has been solid in his last two games as in that span he is averaging 17.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.0 apg, & 1.0 bpg. Green has put up double-digit shots in each of his last two games and as he should see another 25-30 minutes tonight, he is worth the value at just $3,900.
We’re sticking to value at the SF position and going with Norman Powell of the Toronto Raptors who has seen an uptick in playing time since Kyle Lowry has gone down as over his last three games, he has seen at least 22 minutes of action. Powell has had solid back-to-back games as he is averaging 14.0 ppg, 3 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.5 bpg, & 1.0 spg and I’ll be thrilled if he can get us another 25-30 FanDuel points.
I’m staying with the Raptors as we lead off our PF position and going to go with Pascal Siakam. Siakam has been outstanding for the Raptors this season and has been really solid as of late as over his last three games he is averaging 19.3 ppg, 9.3 rpg, & 4.0 apg. Siakam has posted averages of 19.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.5 bpg, & 1.5 spg in his two games agianst the Bucks this season and I’m hoping for that type of production tonight.
I’m going to continue to roll with Draymond Green while his price is at the $7,000 range as he just has too much upside to pass on at this price. Green has struggled offensively this season, however, is still contributing in basically every category this season as he is averaging 7.3 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 6.7 apg & 1.8 spg. Green has triple-double upside whenever he is on the court and with such a high O/U in this game, I think he can get us a 40+ FanDuel point tonight.
There is a bunch of options to spend up on Center tonight, however, as of right now, I’m going with value with the Warriors Kevon Looney. Looney has seen an average of 23.0 minutes per game over his last 5 games and is coming off a solid 12 pts, 7 reb, 2 ast, 1 blk, & 1 stl performance against the Rockets. Looney had a solid 24.1 FanDuel point performance in 28 minutes agianst the Kings in their last outing and I think he is solid value option for tonight.
