Update (6:47 PM) - Made some additional adjustments. Decided to go with a true "punt" play with Kenneth Faried as he might get some minutes tonight and was actually real productive in the only the game he saw significant minutes. I went with Gary Harris as he has upside for value and wanted Kyle Anderson in there as he went off for 50+ against NO earleer this season. Image is updated below. Good Luck!
Update (5:58 PM) - Hi Everyone! As the NBA news has come out throughout the day, I was able to find enough value to get James Harden in my lineups tonight. To make room for him, we decided to go with Shabazz Napier who should be seeing plenty of court time with the amount of injuries that Brooklyn is dealing with tonight in their match-up against the Celtics. Napier has seen 23+ minutes a game over his last 4 games and I think he will have no trouble hitting value tonight. We have Davis Bertans in the lineup as he will most likely see a start since Rudy Guy has been listed out. We also have JaMychal Green in the lineup as I think MEM is going to need his size agianst the Pelicans tonight. Image is updated. Good Luck!
DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/7/19
Here is our initial lineup for today’s NBA 8-game “Main” Slate that starts at 7:00pm tonight.
I’m running a bit behind schedule this AM so I’m going to keep this article pretty short, however, I should be back to my regular schedule tomorrow!
We’ll lead off our FanDuel team with Emmanuel Mudiay. Mudiay has taken over the PG duities for the Knicks over the last month and has been solid this season, averaging 14.3 ppg, 4.0 apg, & 3.0 rpg. Over his last five games, Mudiay is averaging 13.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, & 6.2 apg despite shooting just 36.0% from the field & 23.5% from beyond the arc. Portland has been less than average vs. opposing PG’s this season and as Frank Ntilikina is out with an ankle injury, I think Mudiay is safe for 30-35 minutes tonight.
Derick White is really starting to come into his own for the Spurs as over his last 5 games, he is averaging 16.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.8 apg, & 2.2 spg in a solid 29.2 mpg. White has been on fire with his shot as of late, as over his past three games he is shooting a ridiculous 82.3% from the field (24 for 29) and as the Pistons just let D.J. Augustin go off for a 45.4 FanDuel point night, I think White will be able to easily hit value for us tonight.
I’m going with the Sacramento Kings duo of Bogdan Bogdanovic & Buddy Hield in their match-up agianst the Orlando Magic. Iman Shumpert missed his game due to a finger injury and as he looks like he is going to be out again, this is opens solid minutes for both players especially as Bogdanovic got the start last game. Both Bogdanovic & Hield saw a team-high 35 minutes last game and both had productive games as Bogdanovic had a 42.7 FanDuel point night (17 pts, 6 reb, 7 ast, 3 stl) while Hield went off for a 44 FanDuel point night (32 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast). Orlando ranks just 18th in DEFF & 20th in DRPM vs. opposing SG’s and I like that duo to have another big night tonight.
The Los Angeles Lakers had a disappointing game on Sunday agianst Minnesota, however, I’m not afraid to go right back with Brandon Ingram tonight, especially if Kuzma is out again. Ingram is averaging 17.8 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 3.6 apg, & 1.0 bpg in his last 5 games and with Lebron still out, he should be able to hit value while his price tag is still under $7,000.
Lance Stephenson is my “low-scoring” play at the moment just because he has seen 27+ minutes in the last two games and has back to back games of 27+ FanDuel points. Stephenson has the upside to put together a solid stat line if he is given the minutes and if Kuzma is out agianst, I think he’ll see another 25-30 minutes tonight.
Derrick Favors has seen at least 25 minutes in each of his last 4 games and has been playing some of his best basketball as of late as he is averaging 14 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.5 apg, & 2.0 bpg in that span. Favors has topped 32.5 FanDuel points in 3 of his last 4 games and with a good matchup agianst the Bucks tonight, I think he hits 5x value again.
Rounding out the team, I’m spending up a bit for Orlando’s Aaron Gordon & Nikola Vucevic in their matchup agianst the Kings tonight.
Gordon has been a bit underwhelming as of late as he is coming off sub-30 FanDuel point performances agianst the Timberwolves & Clippers, however, at just a $7,200 price tag, there is a lot to like about Gordon tonight in a match-up agianst the fast-paced Kings. Gordon comes into this game averaging 15.3 ppg, 7.4 rpg, & 3.4 apg and did put up a solid double-double in a 37.6 FanDuel point performance agianst the Kings earlier this season.
Nikola Vucevic is always prone to a disappointing game, however, he has some of the best upside on the slate tonight and comes into this game topping 53.9+ FanDuel points in 3 of his last 6 games, including a monster 72.8 FanDuel point performance agianst the Raptors in late December. Vucevic is averaging 20.2 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.2 bpg, & 1.0 spg over his last 5 games and as we know the Kings can give up big games to opposing centers after giving up an 88.1 FanDuel point performance to Nurkic, I’m going to make sure that Vucevic is in my lineups tonight.
Check back later for updates.
