Update (6:39 PM) - Hi Everyone! Made some adjustments. I decided to with Simmons over Embiid as I just think he is going to have more value and their is no way that Tomas Satoransky should be able to slow Simmons down. I've loaded up on the MIN/OKC game with Teague/Wiggins & PG13. We also have both Sabonis & O'Quinn in the lineup with Turner confirmed out. Giles III is our "low-scoring" punt play as Bagley III is out and I think they'll give him some additional run on the 2nd half of a back-to-back. Image is updated! Good Luck!
DFS – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 1/8/19
Let’s check out our initial lineup for tonight’s NBA FanDuel “Main Slate” that features 8-games and starts at 7:00pm.
We’re leading off our team with the Knicks Trey Burke as although I’m not a huge fan of targeting this game, I think this is a perfect opportunity for Burke to have a big game. Golden State is currently favored by 18-points and considering this game is the 2nd half of a back-to-back for the Knicks, I just don’t see how the Knicks have any shot of keeping this one close. Frank Ntilikina is currently out with an ankle injury and as Mudiay played 34 minutes last night, I think we can pencil Burke in for 25-30 minutes tonight. Burke can certainly fill out a stat sheet when given time as in a 4-game stretch in which he saw 26+ minutes in each game, Burke averaged 20.8 ppg, 4.3 apg, 3.3 rpg, & 1.3 spg which included a monster 55.7 FanDuel point game agianst the Celtics.
At our 2nd PG spot, we’re going to spend up a bit for the Kings De’Aaron Fox who has an outstanding match-up agianst the Phoenix Suns tonight. Fox has been battling a bit of sore shoulder as of late, however, looked solid last night against the Magic as he posted 20 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast, 7 5 stl in just 23 minutes of action in a blowout agianst the Magic. Phoenix ranks just 26th against opposing PG’s on the season and as the 2nd year man out of Kentucky is averaging 17.9 ppg, 7.4 apg, 3.5 rpg & 1.8 spg, I think he could be in for a big night agianst the Suns if Phoenix can keep it close.
We’ll have to keep a close eye on the injury report, however, Aaron Holiday of the Indiana Pacers could be an outstanding “low-scoring” punt play tonight as both Darren Collison & Cory Joseph are currently questionable with injuries. Holiday would have a great match-up agianst the Cleveland Cavaliers who rank just 19th against opposing PG’s and although he hasn’t seen a lot of time, he showed some upside in a 5-game stretch in mid-November when Oladipo first went down as he averaged 13.0 ppg, 4.4 rpg, & 2.2 apg in 20.6 mpg. I’m only playing Holiday if both Collison & Joseph are out, however, if they are, I think holiday could get us 25-30+ FanDuel point tonight on a minimum price.
I’m going back to the Sacramento Kings and going to continue to roster Bogdan Bogdanovic while he is receiving the starting nod with Iman Shumpert out due to a finger injury. Bogdanovic has been outstanding over his last 5 games as he is averaging 17.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 5.0 apg, & 1.8 spg in a solid 33.0 minutes of action. Bogdanovic has posted 35+ FanDuel points in 4 of his last 5 games and although I don’t think he has as much upside as Hield, I do think he has a higher floor and you have to love that his price hasn’t gone up from the mid-$6,000 range even with his recent strong showings.
I’m going to continue to target the SAC/PHX game and go with TJ Warren of the Suns at our first SF position. Warren can sometimes be inconsistent, however, with Devin Booker looking like he is going to be out with a back injury tonight, Warren almost comes a must-play as he will be the go-to option for the Suns. On the season, Warren is averaging 18.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.6 apg & 1.2 spg and you have to like him at this price, especially as he has averaged about 40.0 FanDuel points per game over his last two games.
I wanted to get some exposure to the CHA/LAC game and when it comes to the Clippers, I’m going to with Danilo Gallinari. Gallinari is having a solid season for the Clippers as he is averaging 19.5 ppg, 6.2 rpg, & 2.4 apg. Gallinari has a less than average game agianst the Orlando Magic on Sunday (13 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast in 33 minutes), however, he has been solid as of late as over his last 5 games he is averaging 19.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg, & 3.2 apg. Charlotte comes into this game ranked just 25th against opposing SF’s and as Gallinari has 40+ FanDuel points in 4 of his last 9 games, I think he will have a solid bounce back game tonight.
I’m staying in the in the CHA/LAC game and going with a solid value pick in the Hornets Marvin Williams. Williams is averaging 16.0 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.0 bpg & 2.0 spg in 34.5 mpg over his last two contests and has been more involved in the offense with Jeremy Lamb missing time due to injury. The Clippers have really struggled agianst PF’s this season and if Lamb is unable to go again tonight, Williams should be able to get us 30+ FanDuel points for the 3rd consecutive game.
Myles Turner has been really banged up as of late as after suffering broken nose last week agianst the hawks, he is now questionable tonight with a shoulder injury he picked up on Sunday agianst the Raptors. If Turner is unable to go, which we should know prior to the slate starting at 7:00pm, Domantas Sabonis is going to be a chalk play at the PF position tonight. Sabonis is averaging 14.9 ppg, 9.6 rpg, & 2.9 apg this season and has hit 30+ minutes in his last two games. Sabonis is shooting an incredible 62.3% from the field this season and over his last 5 games, is averaging about 36 FanDuel points a game.
We’re currently paying up at center position tonight and going with the 76ers Joel Embiid. Jimmy Butler looks like he will be back, however, I’m not hesitant in rostering Embiid as the matchup against the Thomas Bryant/Ian Mahinmi duo of the Wizards is too good to pass up on. Embiid is having a monster season as he is averaging 26.9 ppg, 13.5 rpg, 3.5 apg, & 1.9 bpg and I think he has as much upside as any player on the slate tonight.
Check back later for updates.
