NBA – Fantasy Basketball – NBA FanDuel Initial Lineup – 12/31/18
UPDATE (6:31 PM) - I contemplated getting Harden in my lineup to with James as I did in DK, however, I like the balance my current lineup and waited to stick with having the trio of Irving/AD/Anthony-Towns. Good Luck tonight!
Happy New Year’s Eve Everyone!
We couldn’t keep our winning streak going with our FanDuel lineup last night as we didn’t have Karl Anthony-Towns in our lineup and our SAC/LAL stack didn’t live up to expectations. Our 255.1-point performance fell short of both the GPP’s & 50/50’s.
I’m running around today a bit some I keeping this article a bit shorter than the normal ones, but I’m pretty satisfied with the initial lineup we have for tonight’s 5-game NBA “Main” slate that starts at 7:00pm.
The PG position with pretty easy for me tonight as I’m going with Boston’s Kyrie Irving & Minnesota’s Tyus Jones.
Kyrie Irving has been playing some of his best basketball as of late as over his last 5 games he is averaging 25.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, & 7.6 apg. San Antonio hasn’t been anything special against opposing PG’s this season as I just don’t see how the PG’s of San Antonio (Forbes, White, Mills) will be able to slow down Irving, he is well worth the high price tag tonight.
Forbes is almost a must play if Rose & Teague are out tonight as he has one of the better matchups agianst the fast-paced New Orleans Pelicans. Forbes played 36 minutes last night, putting up a solid 38.3 FanDuel point performance and I think we see similar numbers tonight.
I decided to fade James Harden tonight in favor of Anthony Davis and instead go with two of the better value players in the Rockets Austin Rivers & Gerald Green. Houston will be without Eric Gordon tonight and this means we should be seeing another 35+ minutes from Rivers at the SG position with a bit of higher usage rate. Houston will probably need Green’s offense tonight if they want to stand a chance agianst the Grizzlies and as I think he could see 30 minutes, he is well worth the min price tag on Fan Duel.
Paul George is back in the lineup for OKC, however, that didn’t slow down Dennis Schroder last night who still saw 32 minutes and put up a solid 33.3 FanDuel-point performance. Schroder put up 19 shots last night so he certainly has no hesitation putting up shots even with Westbrook, George, and Adams on the court and as the Thunder are playing the Mavericks against, I like going right back to this matchup for a price under $6,000.
Minnesota might be on a back-to-back, however, I’m still going to target them a bunch tonight as the matchup agianst New Orleans is just too good. Robert Covington has been on of Tom Thibodeau’s favorite players since acquiring him from the 76er’s and Covington hasn’t disappointed. Covington is locked in for 35+ minutes tonight and if he is knocking down his three-pointers, he has 40-50 FanDuel point upside.
Maxi Kleber is starting to see consistent minutes in the 25-30 range and although he does have a low floor, the 2nd year man out of Germany does have 7x times upside as we recently saw him go off for a 30.6 FanDuel point performance agianst New Orleans last week. I’m confident enough with my Houston combo of Rivers/Green will be able to get us at least 20+ FanDuel points each which makes me feel safe rostering Kleber as my low-scoring punt play.
I’m paying up for Anthony Davis tonight for the Pelicans as I love the matchup he has agianst the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight. Davis had a disappointing outing vs. the Rockets last Saturday however, I see him bouncing back in a big way tonight. Over his last five games, Davis is averaging 31.6 ppg, 16.6 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.8 bpg, & 1.6 spg.
Karl-Anthony Towns exploded for an incredible 90.1 FanDuel point performance and although he is playing on the 2nd half of a back to back, he is just too tempting to pass up on while his price sits below $10,000. Over his last three games, Towns is averaging 28.3 ppg, 19.0 rpg, 5.3 apg, 3.0 bpg, & 1.3 spg and as he put up 68.6 FanDuel point performance on the 2nd half of a back-to-back earlier this season, I’m not afraid going right back with him tonight.
