NBA – Fantasy Basketball - DFS FanDuel & DraftKings – Injury News – 1/2/19

Hi Everyone!

We have a bunch of injuries that we are going to need to monitor today for our NBA DFS lineups today!

I’ve listed some of the players that currently have an injury status as of 11:15 AM and the players and some players to target if they end up nothing being able to play.

Don't forget to check out our FanDuel & DraftKings "initial lineups" for tonight's 9-game NBA slate!

Boston – Kyrie Irving – GTD – Eye Injury

Kyrie Irving suffered a scratched cornea in his game agianst the Spurs on Monday night and is currently questionable.

If Irving doesn’t play:

Terry Rozier (FD: $4,300; DK: $5,300) – Rozier should be able to see 30+ minutes and has produced in both games that Irving has missed this season. Rozier would be a popular play on FD however, I don’t think you would need to play him on DK as the $5,300 isn’t as much value.

Jaylen Brown (FD: $4,500; DK: 4,900) – Brown has come up big in 2 of his last 6 games (40+ FD & DK points) and that was with Irving in the lineup. Brown has been shooting 66.0% from the field over his last 3 games and as the Celtics will need his scoring even more with Irving out, I think he has solid value on both FD & DK.

New Orleans – Anthony Davis – GTD – Illness

Anthony Davis was a late scratch on Monday which blew up a lot of DFS lineups and is currently a GTD for tonight’s game against Brooklyn.

If Davis doesn’t play:

Elfrid Payton (FD: $5,600; DK: $5,300) – Elfrid Payton came back from his 22-game absence due to a broken finger and had a productive game on Monday (9 pts, 6 ast, 1 reb, 1 stl) in 24 minutes. I was surprised with the amount of time he had in his first game back and with a decent matchup in a game that has an Over/under currently of 230, I think he could be a sneaky value play tonight, especially if Davis is out.

Julius Randle (FD: $8,500; DK: $8,000) – Randle isn’t exactly a value play, however, the matchup against Brooklyn has been one of the best for opposing Centers all season and if Davis doesn’t play, I’m expecting a huge game from Randle as he went off for 33 points, 11 rebounds, & 3 assists agianst Minnesota on Monday.

LA Lakers – LeBron James – Out – Groin

LeBron James will miss his 4th straight game since suffering a groin injury in the Lakers Christmas Day matchup agianst the Warriors.

With Lebron Out:

Basically, all the starting five gets a major bump in usage although as this is the 4th straight game with LeBron out, the prices on both sites have started to adjust accordingly.

Lonzo Ball (FD: $6,500; DK: $7,200), Josh Hart (FD: $6,500; DK: $5,300), Brandon Ingram (FD: $6,800; DK: $6,400), and Kyle Kuzma (FD: $7,400; DK: $7,500) all have had big games since Lebron has gone down, but I would at most roster just two Lakers tonight as they do have a tough matchup agianst Oklahoma City.

If I had to roster two, I would go with Ball & Kuzma, however, I do think there is more value at the PG position tonight so as of right now, I’m only going with Kuzma on FD.

Orlando – Nikola Vucevic – GTD – Calf

Nikola Vucevic left the Magic’s game this past Monday agianst Charlotte with a calf injury and is currently questionable for tonight’s matchup agianst the Bulls.

If Vucevic Doesn’t Play:

Mo Bamba (FD: $4,100; DK: $4,600) – This would be one of my favorite value plays of the night as Bamba looked solid after replacing Vucevic on Monday (5 pts, 12 reb, 2 blk) in 24 minutes of action and has a solid performance agianst San Antonio when filling in for Vucevic in mid-December. The matchup agianst the Bulls is one of the better ones Centers and if he sees 25-30 minutes tonight, I expect him to easily hit value.

Minnesota – Jeff Teague/Derrick Rose/Robert Covington – GTD – Ankle Injuries

Both Jeff Teague & Derrick Rose have missed time as of late due to ankle injuries and both are currently listed a GTD. Teague is currently questionable and has a chance of playing tonight while Rose & Covington looks more doubtful.

If Teague & Rose Don’t Play:

Tyus Jones (FD: $6,300; DK: 5,600) – Jones has averaged 37 minutes per game over Minnesota’s last two games in which both Teague and Rose were out and has been solid as he has averaged 13.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 9.0 apg, & 3.0 spg. Jones price has gone up a bit however, I still think he can hit 6x/7x value on both FD & DK if he sees 35-40 minutes tonight.

If Teague/Rose/Covington Don’t Play:

If all three of these players sit out, you have to expect solid usage increases for Andrew Wiggins (FD: $6,400; DK: $6,200) & Karl Anthony Towns (FD: $10,500; DK: $9,600) while Josh Okogie (FD: $3,900; DK: $3,700) could be a “punt” play.

Atlanta – Kent Bazemore/Taurean Prince – OUT – Ankle Injuries

Both Kent Bazemore & Taurean Prince are listed as out for the Hawks decent matchup against the Washington Wizards today.

With Bazemore/Taurean Prince Out:

Kevin Hueter (FD: $4,600; DK: $4,400) – Hueter doesn’t have the biggest upside, however, I’m not going to fault anyone taking a chance with tonight, especially as he saw 39 minutes of action and put up 22 points against Indiana on Monday night.

DeAndre’ Bembry (FD: $5,500; DK: $4,200) – Bembry is starting to see about 30 minutes a game as of late and although he can have a low floor, he has shown on multiple occasions this season that he can go off for big games with his ability to rake up solid defensive stats. Bembry hasn’t been shooting the ball well as of late, however, as he has averaged 10 shots per game over the last two games, I think he can have a big night against the Wizards.

John Collins (FD: $8,400; DK: $8,200) – Collins isn’t a value you pick but if the Hawks stand a chance in what should be a high scoring game, they’ll need Collins to have a monster game with Bazemore & Price out. In his last 4 games, Collins is averaging 19.5 ppg, 12.3 rpg, & 2.5 apg and I think he can go for a 20/20 game tonight.

Good luck with your lineups tonight!
