We had a solid day yesterday with our DraftKings lineups as we cashed in both our GPP’s & 50/50’s for both our “Main Slate” & “Sunday Night” slates!
Let’s keep it going as we take a look our lineup for the “Monday Night Showdown” that features the Cleveland Browns taking on the New York Jets.
It hasn’t been the dream start for either team this season, however, it’s hard to have much optimism if you’re the Jets as not only did they blow a 16-0 lead late in the 3rd quarter against the Buffalo Bills in their Week 1 loss, they’ve been hit hard with the injury bug as they will be without both QB Sam Donald & DL Quinnen Williams and already have a banged of Le’Veon Bell. The Browns didn’t fare much better after getting destroyed by Tennessee in Week 1, however, as I think their defense will be able to force some turnovers against Trevor Siemian, I’m currently going with a big Cleveland stack.
At our MVP slot, as I think the Browns will be playing from ahead for the majority of the game, I’m going with RB Nick Chubb as this allows me to pay up for some of their other top playmakers. Chubb is pretty much a three-down back for the Browns and has a productive first game of the season (17 Att, 75 rushing yds; 3 rec, 10 receiving yds). Chubb showed us last year his ability to break off a big play at any moment and between the fact that the Jets struggled against Devin Singletary in Week 1 and will be without Williams, I can see Chubb having a monster game tonight.
I’m going with Odell Beckham Jr. as you know that talented WR is going to want to steal the show in his first primetime match-up with his new team. Beckham is top-3 WR in the NFL and you have to love his ability to turn any catch into a TD. Beckham Jr. saw a team-high 11 targets in Week 1, turning them into 7 receptions for 71 yards, and faces a Jets team allowed John Brown of the Bills to go off for 123 receiving yards & a TD in week 1.
As we’re going with Odell Beckham Jr, we’re going to be pairing him with his QB, Baker Mayfield. Mayfield is coming off an outstanding rookie season in which he completed 63.8% of his passes for 27 TD’s & 14 INT while averaging 266.1 passing yds/g. Mayfield and the Browns came into this season with high expectations, and although the fell flat on their face in Week 1, I think Mayfield and the Browns bounce back in this one against a Jets team that ranked just 27th in the NFL in DraftKings points allowed/game (21.7 pts/g) against QB’s last season.
We couldn’t pay for Jarvis Landry, however, found a way to work in Cleveland’s top TE, David Njoku. Njoku saw at last 4 targets from Mayfield in each of his last 6 games last season, and looks like he still is going to play an important role in the Browns offense as he has a solid Week 1 with 4 receptions (6 targets) for 37 yards and a TD against the Titans. The Jets were solid against the TE last season, however, Njoku salary fits nicely in our lineup and as he certainly has TD-upside when the Browns get in the red zone, I don’t mind rolling with him tonight.
As we’re loading up on the Browns, we’re hoping that the Browns Defense can have a bounce-back performance against the banged-up Jets.
We don’t have much money left and I’m going to spend it in hopes if the Jets are able to get one into the endzone tonight, it comes at the hands of their TE Ryan Griffin. Griffin will continue to see starts while Chris Herndon is suspended and should see some targets as Siemian did like to target his TE’s when he was in Denver. Griffin has found the endzone 7 times in his career and between the fact that the Browns were one of the worst teams against the TE last season and allowed Delanie Walker to find the endzone twice in their week 1 loss, I don’t might taking a chance on Griffin tonight.
