Hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed all the football action.
We had a slow start to our day yesterday, as our “Main Slate” & “1:00pm Only” lineups fell short of cashing, however, we fought back later in the day with GPP & 50/50 wins in the “4:00pm Only” & “Sunday Night” contests.
Let’s keep that winning going as we take a look at tonight’s “NFL Monday Million” contest featuring the Cleveland Browns & New York Jets that starts at 8:15pm.
As of right now, I’m loading up on the Browns against a Jets team that will be missing Sam Donald and will have an at-best banged up Le’Veon Bell. The Browns struggled defensively in their Week 1 loss against Tennessee, however, I’m banking that they’ll be able to give the Jets some trouble tonight.
For our lineup, I’m going with Odell Beckham Jr. at our MVP slot as you know that talented WR is going to want to steal the show in his first primetime match-up with his new team. Beckham is top-3 WR in the NFL and you have to love his ability to turn any catch into a TD. Beckham Jr. saw a team-high 11 targets in Week 1, turning them into 7 receptions for 71 yards, and faces a Jets team allowed John Brown of the Bills to go off for 123 receiving yards & a TD in week 1.
As we’re going with Odell Beckham Jr, we’re going to be pairing him with his QB, Baker Mayfield. Mayfield is coming off an outstanding rookie season in which he completed 63.8% of his passes for 27 TD’s & 14 INT while averaging 266.1 passing yds/g. Mayfield and the Browns came into this season with high expectations, and although the fell flat on their face in Week 1, I think Mayfield and the Browns bounce back in this one against a Jets team that ranked just 27th in the NFL in FanDuel points allowed/game (20.6 pts/g) against QB’s last season.
Sticking with the Browns, we’re going with two of their other playmakers in Jarvis Landry & Nick Chubb
Landry didn’t have as big as an impact as I expected with the Browns last season, however, still finished with a very productive season, catching 81 receptions for 976 yards & 4 TD’s. I think Landry is in a great spot to have a career season as he should see plenty of one-on-one match-ups with the attention that defenses will give to Odell Beckham Jr. Landry should have a solid match-up against the Jets Brian Poole and as he has averaged 79.2 yds/g in his 9 games against the Jets in his career, I love pairing him tonight with Mayfield & Beckham Jr.
As I’m expecting the Browns to get out to a lead in this one, I think we’ll see plenty of opportunity for Nick Chubb tonight to have a productive game. Chubb is pretty much a three-down back for the Browns and has a productive first game of the season (17 Att, 75 rushing yds; 3 rec, 10 receiving yds). Chubb showed us last year his ability to break off a big play at any moment and as the Jets will be missing one of their best defensive linemen in Quinnen Williams who is out with an ankle injury, I like Chubb tonight.
We don’t have much money left and I’m going to spend it in hopes if the Jets are able to get one into the endzone tonight, it comes at the hands of their TE Ryan Griffin. Griffin will continue to see starts while Chris Herndon is suspended and should see some targets as Siemian did like to target his TE’s when he was in Denver. Griffin has found the endzone 7 times in his career and between the fact that the Browns were one of the worst teams against the TE last season and allowed Delanie Walker to find the endzone twice in their week 1 loss, I don’t might taking a chance on Griffin tonight.
