The Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Angels begin a three-game series Monday night.

The Seattle Mariners look to snap a four-game losing streak. The Mariners have allowed 22 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last 10 games. The Mariners have lost seven straight games when allowing more than three runs. Offensively, Nelson Cruz leads Seattle with 34 hits and 25 RBI while  Kyle Seager and Brad Miller have combined for 20 RBI. The Seattle Mariners have lost five of their last eight games on the road. Felix Hernandez gets the ball, and he’s 4-0 with a 1.82 ERA and 36 strikeouts this season. Hernandez is 12-13 with a 3.47 ERA and 268 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.

The Los Angeles Angels look to bounce back after getting swept by the Giants. The Angels have scored six runs in their last three games and three or less runs in five of their last 10 games. The Angels have lost five of their last seven games when scoring three or less runs. Mike Trout leads LA with 28 hits and 15 RBI while David Freese and Kole Calhoun have combined for 32 RBI. The Los Angeles Angels have won four of their last six games on their home field. Matt Shoemaker takes the hill, and he’s 2-1 with a 6.00 ERA and 17 strikeouts this season. Shoemaker is 3-0 with a 2.39 ERA and 23 strikeouts in his career against the Mariners.

The Mariners are 2-5 in their last 7 during game 1 of a series and 24-8 in Hernandezs last 32 starts. The Angels are 3-9 in their last 12 during game 1 of a series and 20-6 in Shoemakers last 26 starts. The Mariners are 7-0 in Hernandezs last 7 starts vs. Angels and the Angels are 4-0 in Shoemakers last 4 starts vs. Mariners.

Hard to pick against Hernandez with the way he's been pitching this season. It also doesn't help that the Angels are coming off a rugh series against a subpar Giants squad. I like the road team.
