The Line: Los Angeles Angels -140 / Seattle Mariners +130 --- Over/Under: 7.5
The Los Angeles Angels and the Seattle Mariners face off on Tuesday at the Big A in game two of their MLB series of AL West teams.
The Los Angeles Angels couldn’t get the bats going on Monday as the fell to the Mariners to start their series. David Freese and Matt Joyce each hit home runs and Albert Pujols and Erick Aybar each had two hits as the Angels scored two runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Matt Shoemaker allowed four hits and three runs while striking out 10 over 7.1 innings to take the loss. For game Tuesday’s game the Angels start Garrett Richards who has allowed 12 hits and six runs while striking out 14 over 18 innings for a 2-1 record and a 3.00 ERA.
The Seattle Mariners didn’t get a lot of offense on Monday but it was enough to earn the win against the Angels. Seth Smith, Nelson Cruz, and Logan Morrison each hit home runs as the Mariners scored three runs on four hits. Starting pitcher Felix Hernandez allowed six hits and a run while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 5-0 for the season and Fernando Rodney earned his eighth save. For Tuesday’s game the Mariners start James Paxton who has allowed 30 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 26 over 26.2 innings for a 0-2 record and a 5.74 ERA.
Los Angeles is 19-7 against a left-handed starter, 4-11 in their last 15 home games, and 19-7 in Richards’ last 26 starts. Seattle is 5-0 against a team with a losing record, 2-7 as a road underdog, and 7-2 in Paxton’s last nine starts in game two of a series. Seattle is 7-2 in their last nine meetings with Los Angeles.
The total is set at 7.5 and after facing tougher pitching on Monday expect both of these teams to hit better and for it to go over the total. I also have a strong pick on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App. As always my Premium Picks can also be purchased individually at Picks and Parlays.
