MLB | Texas Rangers (6-10) at Los Angeles Angels (8-9)

The Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers face off on Saturday at the Big A in a MLB battle of AL West teams.

The Los Angeles Angels needed to come from behind on Friday but they got the win over the Rangers in game one of their series. David Freese had two hits including a home run, C.J. Cron had three hits, and Mike Trout added as hit as the Angels scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Garrett Richards allowed three hits and two runs while striking out five over 7.0 innings to get the win to go to 1-1 for the season and Huston Street earned his sixth save of the year. For Saturday’s game the Angels start C.J. Wilson who has allowed 14 hits and eight runs while striking out 14 over 20.1 innings for a 1-2 record and a 3.54 ERA.

The Texas Rangers got the most out of their hits on Friday but they didn’t get enough hits to get the win. Prince Fielder had two hits, Elvis Andrus had a hit, and Mitch Moreland was among those reaching base via a walk as the Rangers scored two runs on three hits. Starting pitcher Wandy Rodriguez allowed five hits and a run while striking out five over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Keone Kela blew the save to take the loss and fell to 0-1 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rangers start Colby Lewis who has allowed 20 hits and eight runs while striking out 11 over 19 innings for a 1-1 record and a 3.79 ERA.

Los Angeles is 4-9 following a win, 2-5 in game two of a series, and 7-2 in Wilson’s last nine starts as a favorite. Texas is 9-3 following a loss, 1-5 in their last six road games, and 2-6 in Lewis’ last eight starts against a team with a losing record. Texas is 2-6 in their last eight games in Los Angeles.

For the second night in a row I don’t love the odds on the Angels but I do see them as the choice to win.
