|Date & Time||Saturday September 8, 2018, 8:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks -150 / Atlanta Braves +140 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Atlanta Braves and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be continuing their MLB set from Chase Field on Saturday.
In the opener, the Braves eked out a 7-6 win. On Friday in game two, Arizona struck back on a 5-3 victory.
For Saturday’s game, the Braves will be going with Julio Teheran. In his 153.1 innings and 9-7 record this year, Teheran has a 4.05 ERA with 139 Ks and 69 walks.
Nick Markakis leads the way for the Braves this year, entering game two on 169 hits, 73 runs, 14 homers and 87 RBI. On Friday, Markakis had two hits.
Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they’re going with Clay Buchholz. Across 92.0 innings and a 7-2 mark this year, Buchholz has a 2.05 ERA with 75 Ks and 20 BBs.
Paul Goldschmidt tops the Arizona roster, coming into Friday on 156 hits, 87 runs, 32 homers and 81 RBI. In game two, Goldschmidt had a homer and two runs.
The Braves are 1-6 in the last seven Saturday games and 6-1 in Teheran’s last seven starts in game three of a series. Atlanta is also 5-2 in Teheran’s last seven starts and 4-12 in his last 16 Saturday starts.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 6-2 in their last eight in game three of a series and 0-4 in the last four Saturday games. Arizona is 4-1 in Buchholz’s last five home starts and 5-2 in his last seven starts with five days’ rest.
Aside from giving up four earned against Tampa, Teheran has pitched well in four of his last five outings. In those, he allowed a total of five combined earned. As for Buchholz, he hasn’t allowed more than two earned in any of his last six starts, and five of those were quality. I’m going to go with the D-Backs here in what should be a great matchup all around.
