Arizona Diamondbacks -130 / Baltimore Orioles +120 O/U: 9.5
The Baltimore Orioles and the Arizona Diamondbacks will finish up their MLB series on Wednesday.
The Diamondbacks managed a 6-3 victory in the Monday opener of this set. In the Tuesday game, Baltimore returned the favor, posting seven runs in the second and third inning and riding that wave to a 7-2 win.
For Wednesday’s matchup, the Orioles will be sending out John Means in the start. Across his 94.2 innings and 8-5 record this year, Means has a 2.95 ERA with 74 Ks and 24 BBs.
Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they’re rolling with Taylor Clarke in the start Wednesday. Over 45.2 innings and a 2-3 record so far, Clarke has a 6.50 ERA with 32 Ks and 19 BBs.
The Orioles are 18-37 in their last 55 Wednesday games and 22-58 in their last 80 in game three of a series. Baltimore is 1-4 in Means’ last five starts in game three of a series and 1-5 in his last six road starts.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 9-3 in their last 12 in game three of a series and 9-4 in their last 13 Wednesday games. The over is 4-0 in Arizona’s last four Wednesday games and 5-0-1 in Clarke’s last six starts overall.
Means has one bad start (six earned; 6.0 innings; eight hits) sandwiched between two quality starts (four earned on 10 hits in 13.0 combined innings) over his last three outings.
As for Clarke, he’s been pretty sketchy this year and has given up 15 earned over his last four starts—but is just 1-1 in that time.
I’m not thrilled with Clarke right now and I think Means will get the better SP stats here. I can’t trust the O’s offense for much of anything these days but this might not be a bad spot for Baltimore to eke one out.
