Colorado Rockies (0-2) at Arizona Diamondbacks (2-0)
|Date & Time||Saturday March 31, 2018, 8:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks -155 / Colorado Rockies +145 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks meet Saturday in MLB action at Chase Field.
The Colorado Rockies are looking for their first victory after a rough 0-2 start in which their pitching staff has allowed a combined 17 runs. The Rockies pitching staff had its issues last season as well, but these are worrisome signs, as outs have been hard to come by early this season. Offensively, Chris Iannetta leads the Rockies with five hits while Nolan Arenado and Ian Desmond have combined for seven hits and three RBI. Early in the season or not, the Colorado Rockies can’t afford to dig themselves an early deep hole given the competitive division they’re in with four teams that hope to make playoffs. German Marquez gets the ball, and he was 11-7 with a 4.39 ERA and 147 strikeouts last season. Marquez is 0-3 with a 4.33 ERA and 31 strikeouts in his career against the Diamondbacks.
The Arizona Diamondbacks had to score all nine runs to win Friday night, but wins are wins, and the D-Backs offense is one fire right now. The Diamondbacks have six different players with at least two hits and are scoring by the truckload despite just one homer. Nick Ahmed leas Arizona with four hits and five RBI while David Peralta and Jake Lamb have combined for six hits and five RBI. The Diamondbacks may be the most impressive team just two games into the year. The Arizona Diamondbacks haven’t started a season 3-0 since the 2012 MLB season. Zack Greinke gets the ball, and he was 17-7 with a 3.20 ERA and 215 strikeouts last season. Greinke is 9-5 with a 3.93 ERA and 148 strikeouts in his career against the Rockies.
The Rockies are 1-4 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series, 2-8 in their last 10 road games and 0-4 in their last 4 overall. The Diamondbacks are 4-1 in their last 5 home games, 21-7 in Greinkes last 28 home starts and 35-17 in Greinkes last 52 starts. The Rockies are 1-5 in Marquezs last 6 starts vs. Diamondbacks and the Rockies are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have won both games against the Rockies, the offense is putting up crooked numbers with ease, and now they're throwing out their best pitcher in Greinke. You know, the guy who was 13-1 last season at Chase Field with an ERA under three with an allowed batting average of .209? Yeah, that guy. Marquez has been rocked by Arizona in his career, and he had an ERA over four with an allowed batting average of .288 on the road last season. This is another game that could get very ugly for the Rockies. The Diamondbacks start a season 3-0 for the first time in six years.
