The Colorado Rockies need a win after losing eight of their last 12 games. The Rockies have scored 15 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last 11 games. The Colorado Rockies have split their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. Nolan Arenado leads the Rockies with 106 hits and 67 RBI while Charlie Blackmon and David Dahl have combined for 195 hits and 108 RBI. Antonio Senzatela gets the ball, and he is 7-5 with a 4.83 ERA and 47 strikeouts this season. Senzatela is 2-4 with a 4.93 ERA and 29 strikeouts in his career against the Diamondbacks.
The Arizona Diamondbacks also need a win after losing four of their last five games. The Diamondbacks have scored 12 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last nine games. The Arizona Diamondbacks have split their last eight games when scoring four or more runs. Ketel Marte leads the Diamondbacks with 107 hits and 53 RBI while Eduardo Escobar and David Peralta have combined for 184 hits and 109 RBI. Zack Greinke gets the ball, and he is 9-3 with a 2.90 ERA and 99 strikeouts this season. Greinke is 4-1 with a 1.69 ERA and 36 strikeouts in his career against the Rockies.
The Rockies are 9-4 in their last 13 during game 1 of a series, 5-2 in Senzatelas last 7 Friday starts and 5-2 in Senzatelas last 7 starts. The Diamondbacks are 8-2 in their last 10 games following an off day, 36-17 in Greinkes last 53 home starts and 5-1 in Greinkes last 6 starts. The Diamondbacks are 3-7 in Greinkes last 10 home starts vs. Rockies and 0-4 in Greinkes last 4 starts vs. Rockies. The over is 4-0 in Greinkes last 4 home starts. The under is 5-1-1 in Senzatelas last 7 starts overall.
Senzatela is coming off a solid month of June where he allowed 13 earned runs through 34 innings and had 18 strikeouts. Senzatela is also posting a 3.92 ERA in 43.2 innings on the road. The Arizona Diamondbacks have won 12 of the last 17 games Greinke has pitched, and he has a 3.40 ERA at home. Greinke is also allowing just a .242 batting average with 88 strikeouts in 364 at bats against current Rockies hitters. This line does provide some value in the direction of the Rockies given the form of both teams, but I'll back the Diamondbacks anyway due to the success they have with Greinke on the hill.
