The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Colorado Rockies face off on Saturday in Arizaona for game tow of their series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks jumped on the Rockies early on Friday and made it work as they got the win. Miguel Montero hit a home run and David Peralta and Ender Incarte each had two hits as the Diamondbacks scored five runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Chase Anderson allowed four hits and a run while striking out six over 6.0 innings to get he win and go to 7-4 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Diamondbacks start Trevor Cahill who is having his worst season as a pro. For the season Cahill has allowed 73 hits and 36 earned runs while striking out 60 over 63.1 innings for a 1-8 record and a 5.12 ERA.
The Colorado Rockies fell behind early on Friday and were never able to catch up as they lost in Arizona. Michael McKenry had two hits including a home run and Justin Morneau and Corey Dickerson each had two hits as the Rockies scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Tyler Matzek allowed four hits and three runs while striking out two over 5.0 innings tot take the loss and fall to 2-7 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rockies start Jorge De La Rosa who is coming off of a loss that ended his streak of five winning decisions. For the season De La Rosa has allowed 115 hits and 61 earned runs while striking out 99 over 128.2 innings for an 11-7 record and a 4.27 ERA.
Arizona is 4-0 as a home favorite, 2-5 in their last seven home games, and 2-7 in Cahill’s last nine starts. Colorado is 17-46 in their last 63 games, 13-40 following a loss, and 6-1 in De La Rosa’s last seven starts in game two of a series. Colorado has lost their last five meetings with Arizona.
Neither of these teams have done anything consistently this season except lose and I expect plenty of scoring here but De La Rosa seems to know how to win and I like him to do so here.
