The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks +203 / Los Angeles Dodgers -220 --- Over/Under: 7.5
Down at Chase Field on Tuesday, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be meeting up on the MLB field to continue their series.
In the Monday game, the Diamondbacks scored three times in the second inning and rode that wave to an 8-5 win.
For Tuesday’s matchup, the Dodgers will be going with LHP Clayton Kershaw. In his 38.0 innings and 1-4 record this year, Kershaw has a 2.84 ERA with 42 Ks.
Leading the way for the Dodgers in hitting coming into this set was Cody Bellinger with 30 hits, 12 RBI and 21 runs. On Monday, Bellinger came up empty 0-for-4.
Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they’re bringing out RHP Matt Koch for the start. Over 14.0 innings and a 1-0 mark this season, Koch has a 1.93 ERA with 11 Ks and four BBs.
Tops on offense for the Diamondbacks coming into this set was David Peralta, with 29 hits, 15 runs, five homers and 16 RBI. In the Monday game, Peralta was 0-for-2 with an RBI.
The Dodgers are 38-15 in their last 53 Tuesday games and 40-19 in their last 59 during game two of a series. The under is 6-1 in LA’s last seven Tuesday games and they’re 1-6 in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the D-Backs are 4-1 in their last five Tuesday games and 5-1 in their last six versus a team with a losing record. Arizona is also 7-2 in their last nine overall and 12-4 in their last 16 versus the NL West.
Now, this is interesting. Kershaw has a 5-8 record at Chase Field, which is his worst of any MLB park. Factor that into Kershaw’s last outing, with featured six walks versus the lowly Marlins, and you’ve got far from a sure thing. All of that said, I’m still leaning toward the Dodgers here, as it’s tough to think Kershaw will continue to struggle. The play is probably the under, though.
