The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks -151 / New York Mets +141 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Friday evening from Chase Field, the New York Mets and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be picking up their weekend MLB series once again.
In the Thursday opener, the Diamondbacks managed a 6-3 win, out-hitting the Mets 8-4 on the evening.
For Friday’s game, the Mets will be going with RHP Seth Lugo. In his 45.2 innings and 2-1 record this year, Lugo has a 1.77 ERA with 47 Ks and nine walks.
Tops in hitting for the Mets this year is Asdrubal Cabrera with 67 hits, 31 runs, 11 homers and 36 RBI. On Thursday, Cabrera went 0-for-4.
Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they’ll be starting Zack Godley on Friday. Over 70.2 innings and a 6-5 record this year, Godley has a 4.97 ERA with 70 Ks and 35 BBs.
Arizona’s top hitter this season is David Peralta, who came into this set with 65 hits, 30 runs, 12 homers and 34 RBI. In the opener, Peralta had two solo homers.
The Mets are 3-15 in their last 18 during game two of a series and 1-4 in Lugo’s last five road starts. New York is also 7-3 in Lugo’s last 10 starts with four days’ rest and 1-5 in his last six starts versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 5-0 in their last five in game two of a series and 11-5 in Godley’s last 16 starts in game two of a series. Arizona is also 0-5 in Godley’s last five starts with four days’ rest and the over is 5-2 in his last seven Friday starts.
Lugo has seen work mostly as a reliever this year, but in his last two starts he’s got zero earned over a span of 10.0 innings on just five hits. As for Godley, he’s been choppy to say the least, with two good starts (four earned combined) and two bad starts (13 earned combined) in his last four. With Lugo on the mound, this might be a good spot to take a chance on the Mets if you can find a good number on them.
