The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks -180 / Philadelphia Phillies +170 --- Over/Under: 8
Tuesday evening down at Chase Field, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be continuing their MLB set.
In the Monday opener, we had an exhausting 14-inning marathon as the Diamondbacks came back from 2-0 for a 3-2 victory on a David Peralta homer.
For Tuesday’s game, the Phillies will be bringing out RHP Nick Pivetta. In his 113.2 innings and 6-9 record this year, Pivetta has a 4.75 ERA with 141 Ks and 32 BBs.
Tops in hitting this year for Philly is Odubel Herrera, with 115 hits, 53 runs, 19 homers and 60 RBI entering this set. On Monday, Herrera had a triple, a run and an RBI.
Over on the Diamondbacks’ side, they’re going with Zack Greinke on Tuesday. Across 142.2 innings and a 12-6 record, Greinke has a 2.96 ERA with 148 Ks and 25 BBs.
Coming into this set, David Peralta led the way for the Diamondbacks on 116 hits, 51 runs, 17 homers and 54 RBI. In the opener, Peralta played the hero with his two blasts, going 4-for-7 on the night.
The Phillies are 4-0 in their last four Tuesday games and 0-5 in Pivetta’s last five starts in game two of a series. Philly is also 2-8 in Pivetta’s last 10 starts versus the NL West and 2-8 in his last 10 road starts versus a team with a winning record.
Meanwhile, the D-Backs are 4-0 in their last four in game two of a series and 30-11 in their last 41 Tuesday games. Arizona is also 7-1 in Greinke’s last eight Tuesday starts and 7-2 in his last nine starts.
Over his last four starts, Pivetta has a pair of good ones (five combined earned in 12.2 innings) and two not-so-good ones (nine combined earned in 11.1 innings). As for Greinke, he’s remained sharp and is sitting on four straight quality starts. I can’t pick against the Diamondbacks here.
