The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks -161 / Pittsburgh Pirates +151 --- Over/Under: 8
Coming up on Monday from Chase Field, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be kicking off their MLB series.
The Pirates just finished up a set against the Cubs. Pittsburgh lost the first two games of that series, then on Sunday the Pirates managed a 7-1 win.
The Pirates will be going with Joe Musgrove on Monday. In his 19.0 innings and 2-1 mark this season, Musgrove has a 1.89 ERA with 17 Ks and five walks.
Leading the way in hitting for the Pirates is Corey Dickerson with 72 hits, 31 runs and 32 RBI. On Sunday, Dickerson had one hit.
Over on the D-Backs’ side, they’re fresh off a series versus the Rockies. After winning the first pair of games, on Sunday Arizona put up an 8-3 victory.
On Monday, Arizona will be sending out LHP Patrick Corbin. Over 81.2 innings and a 6-2 record this year, Corbin has a 2.87 ERA with 105 Ks and 22 BBs.
David Peralta is the top hitter for the Diamondbacks this year with 62 hits, 28 runs and 31 RBI. In the Sunday game, Ketel Marte put up a homer with three hits, three RBI and two runs.
The Pirates are 1-4 in their last five Monday games and 1-5 in their last six versus the NL West. Pittsburgh is also 0-4 in their last four in game one of a series and the under is 4-1-1 in the last six Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 5-0 in their last five home games following a road trip of a week or more and 4-1 in their last five in game one of a series. The over is 4-1 in the Diamondbacks’ last five Monday games and 5-0 in their last five in game one of a series.
Musgrove has looked pretty solid in his three starts this year, with his only relatively shaky outing coming against the Dodgers with three earned on six hits in 5.0 innings for a loss. I would imagine Musgrove will bounce back here and pitch well, but I still have to give the edge to Arizona.
