The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks -156 / San Diego Padres +146 --- Over/Under: 8
On Friday, the San Diego Padres and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be picking up their MLB series once again from Chase Field.
In the Thursday opener, the Padres scored five runs in a three-inning span and took it 6-3.
For Friday’s matchup, the Padres will be sending out LHP Joey Lucchesi. Over 58.0 innings and a 4-3 mark this year, Lucchesi has a 3.26 ERA with 60 Ks and 23 BBs.
Leading the way in hitting for the Padres this year is Eric Hosmer, who entered this set on 86 hits, 37 runs and 37 RBI. In the opener, Hosmer put up a run.
Over on the D-Backs’ side, they’re rolling with Zack Godley on Friday. Across his 92.1 innings and 9-6 record this season, Godley has a 5.07 ERA with 92 Ks and 50 walks.
Tops in offense for the Diamondbacks this season is David Peralta, who came into this set on 89 hits, 38 runs, 15 homers and 46 RBI. On Thursday, Ketel Marte put up a two-run homer.
The Padres are 9-3 in their last 12 in game two of a series and 3-7 in their last 10 Friday games. The over is 4-1 in San Diego’s last five Friday games and 3-1-1 in their last five games versus a starter with a WHIP over 1.30.
Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are 5-1 in their last five Friday games and 9-2 in their last 11 in game two of a series. Arizona is 4-1 in Godley’s last five starts and 2-6 in his last eight starts with four days’ rest.
After a few fairly mediocre outings, Lucchesi has been good over his last two starts with two hits and no earned in 9.0 innings. As for Godley, he had a nice run of four starts going but in his last appearance he gave up seven earned on nine hits in 4.0 innings to SF. I’m going to say Godley gets it back here and helps the Diamondbacks to a win.
