|Date & Time||Saturday August 25, 2018, 8:10 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Arizona Diamondbacks -165 / Seattle Mariners +155 --- Over/Under: 8.5
The Seattle Mariners and the Arizona Diamondbacks will be continuing their weekend MLB series on Saturday from Chase Field.
In the Friday opener, the Mariners scored four runs in the third and cruised to a 6-3 win.
On Saturday, the Mariners will be starting LHP Wade LeBlanc. In his 122.2 innings and 7-3 mark this year, LeBlanc has a 4.04 ERA with 98 Ks.
Leading the way for the Mariners hitters this year is Jean Segura, who came into this set with 152 hits, 78 runs and 57 RBI. On Friday, Segura had a hit, a run and an RBI.
For Saturday’s game, the Diamondbacks will be bringing out lefty Robbie Ray. Across 80.2 innings and a 3-2 mark this season, Ray has a 4.91 ERA with 104 Ks.
Paul Goldschmidt tops out the Diamondbacks hitters with 141 hits, 80 runs, 29 homers and 73 RBI entering this series. In the opener, Goldschmidt plated a run.
The Mariners are 2-5 in their last seven Saturday games and 2-6 in their last eight in game two of a series. The under is 5-2 in Seattle’s last seven Saturday games and 9-4 in their last 13 in game two of a series.
Meanwhile, the D-Backs are 18-6 in their last 24 in game two of a series and 1-5 in Ray’s last six home starts. Arizona is 1-6 in Ray’s last seven starts and 1-6 in his last seven inter-league starts.
In his four starts this month, LeBlanc is carrying a 6.75 ERA. Last time he was out on the mound, he gave up seven runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings. As for Ray, he hasn’t gotten through six innings in any of his last three outings thanks to high pitch counts, but aside from some less-than-ideal walk numbers he’s been doing okay. I’m going Diamondbacks here.
