The Line: Atlanta Braves +158 / Los Angeles Dodgers -168 --- Over/Under: 8
On Friday down at SunTrust Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers will be visiting the Atlanta Braves as they continue their weekend MLB set.
In the Thursday opener, the Dodgers came alive late, scoring all their runs in a four-inning span en route to an 8-2 win.
For Friday’s matchup, the Dodgers will be bringing out lefty Clayton Kershaw. In his 81.2 innings and 3-5 record this year, Kershaw has a 2.64 ERA with 83 Ks and 17 BBs.
Manny Machado is the top hitter for the Dodgers this year, entering this set on 115 hits, 48 runs, 24 homers and 65 RBI. In the opener, Machado ripped a solo homer.
As for the Braves, they’re rolling with Mike Foltynewicz on Friday. Over 107.1 innings and a 7-6 mark this year, Foltynewicz has a 2.85 ERA with 125 Ks and 45 BBs.
Coming into this series, Nick Markakis led the way for the Braves in hitting with 123 hits, 57 runs, 10 homers and 62 RBI. On Thursday, Markakis went 0-for-3.
The Dodgers are 7-2 in their last nine Friday games and 0-4 in their last four in game two of a series. LA is 61-20 in Kershaw’s last 81 starts and 56-26 in his last 82 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Braves are 1-5 in their last six in game two of a series and 3-11 in their last 14 Friday games. Atlanta is 1-6 in Foltynewicz’s last seven Friday starts and 0-4 in his last four starts versus the NL West.
Kershaw has been quite consistent as usual this season, and he’s sitting on four straight quality starts with a 2-1 record during that time. As for Foltynewicz, he’s been a little iffy over his last three starts, giving up a total of 14 earned over 18.1 innings. This should be a fun game to watch, but I can’t pick against LA with Kershaw on the mound.
