Atlanta Braves -195 / Miami Marlins +183 O/U: 9.5
The Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves will match up on the MLB diamond Sunday to finish up their series.
The Braves eked out a 1-0 victory in the Friday opener, then in the Saturday game Miami returned the favor with a 5-4 win.
For Sunday’s matchup, the Marlins will be sending out Trevor Richards for the start. Across his 94.0 innings and 3-9 mark so far, Richards has a 4.02 ERA with 83 Ks and 40 BBs.
Miami racked up 15 hits in the Saturday victory. Starlin Castro was a big contributor there with three hits, two runs and a solo homer.
Over on the Braves’ side, they’re sending out Dallas Keuchel in the start Sunday. Over 17.2 innings and a 1-2 record this year, Keuchel has a 4.08 ERA with eight Ks and five walks.
Atlanta registered nine hits in the Saturday loss. Ozzie Albies led the way on three hits with two runs for the Braves.
The Marlins are 18-41 in their last 59 in game three of a series and 3-9 in their last 12 Sunday games. Miami is 2-10 in Richards’ last 12 road starts and 2-7 in his last nine in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the Braves are 48-22 in their last 70 in game three of a series and 35-16 in their last 51 Sunday games. The over is 4-1 in Atlanta’s last five Sunday games as well.
Richards has been pretty bumpy lately. In two of his last four starts, he’s allowed four earned in 10.2 innings; In the other two, he’s given up 11 earned in 10.0 innings. In any case, he’s 0-4 since June 8.
As for Keuchel, he’s been steady so far but not overwhelming. He did put up a quality start (7.0 innings; two earned; loss) in his last start, however.
I’m not thrilled about Richards right now so I’m going to stick with Keuchel and the Braves here.
