The Miami Marlins look to cool down the white hot Atlanta Braves in AL East action.

The Marlins are going nowhere in the National League East, but the opportunity to throw a monkey wrench into other team's plans is a goal well within their grasp with their dangerous pitching. Miami had a chance to slow the surging Braves Friday, but came up well short in a 5-0 nothing defeat. The bottom line for this team is a challenged offense that struggles on the mound is in trouble. Justin Turner did struggle through five frames with all five runs plated on five hits and three bases on balls. The offense never threatened on four hits and a single walk, which saddled the Fish with five losses in a row. Nathan Eovaldi is scheduled to be on the hill against Atlanta on Saturday. Eovaldi has only nine starts in 2013 but he has been rock solid with eight quality outings in that stretch, with the pen and offense hurting him.

Another game, another victory for the Braves, who haven't lost in weeks, as they racked up yet another game in the win column Friday versus the Marlins. Atlanta has been getting fantastic pitching and hitting for weeks and that combination is making them very difficult to contend with. The rest of the National League East is in trouble, especially if Brandon Beachy throws as he did Friday. Beachy was nearly untouchable with a three hit shutout over eight frames, with the offense riding the power game. Chris Johnson, Justin Upton and Brian McCann paced the attack with home runs. Rookie left-hander Alex Wood makes his 4th consecutive start against visiting Miami on Saturday. Wood has logged back-to-back wins with four runs allowed on eight hits and three walks in 13 innings.

Atlanta will lose at some point because thats the nature of the game, but betting against them might be akin to stepping in front of a truck. And I don't want to be hit by a truck...

Pick:
Atlanta -1

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team.
