Down at SunTrust park on Tuesday, the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves will be kicking off their MLB series.
The Mets just finished up a crosstown series against the Yankees. After losing the first pair of games, the Mets took Sunday’s finale 2-0.
For Tuesday’s game, the Mets will be going with Zack Wheeler in the starting role. Over his 63.0 innings and 2-4 record this year, Wheeler has a 4.57 ERA with 62 Ks.
Way out front for the Mets in hitting this season is Asdrubal Cabrera, with 67 hits, 31 runs, 11 homers and 36 RBI. Amed Rosario is second with 49 hits, 23 runs and 18 RBI to his credit.
Over on the Braves’ side, they played the Dodgers this past weekend. Atlanta won on Saturday but lost the other two games.
Atlanta will be going with RHP Mike Foltynewicz on Tuesday. Over 74.0 innings and a 5-4 mark this year, Foltynewicz has a 2.31 ERA with 88 Ks and 33 walks.
Nick Markakis and Freddie Freeman are tied atop the Braves’ stat sheet, each with 85 hits and 41 runs. The pair also have a combined 20 home runs and 88 RBI.
The Mets are 9-4 in their last 13 games following an off day and 2-5 in their last seven road games. New York is also 7-19 in their last 26 Tuesday games and 3-13 in their last 16 overall.
Meanwhile, the Braves are 5-1 in their last six Tuesday games and 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Atlanta is also 5-15 in Foltynewicz’s last 20 starts and 2-7 in his last nine home starts.
Wheeler has been pretty good lately, with three quality starts in his last four outings. As for Foltynewicz, he’s been very consistent over his last half-dozen starts, with a max of two earned—which happened just once in San Diego his last time up. I like Foltynewicz to stay solid here and help guide the Braves to a victory.
