Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves

Atlanta Braves +112 / Washington Nationals -122 O/U: 9.5
The Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves will meet up on the MLB circuit Thursday to kick off their weekend series.
The Nats are coming off a pair of games versus the Orioles. Washington banged out an 8-1 victory on Tuesday, then in the Wednesday game the Nationals dropped 9-2, coughing up eight runs in the O’s final two at-bats.
For Thursday’s opener, the Nationals will be going with Stephen Strasburg in the start. Across his 122.1 innings and 11-4 mark so far, Strasburg has a 3.46 ERA with 144 Ks and 30 BBs.
Over on the Braves’ side, they’re coming out of a series in Milwaukee. Atlanta won 4-2 on Monday but fell 13-1 in the Tuesday game. In the Wednesday rubber match, the Braves fell in a tough one 5-4.
For the Thursday game, Atlanta will go with Julio Teheran in the start. Teheran is 5-6 this year with a 3.71 ERA and 97 strikeouts.
The Nationals are 7-1 in their last eight in game one of a series and 8-3 in their last 11 Thursday games. Washington is 40-12 in Strasburg’s last 52 road starts and 78-30 in his last 108 overall.
Meanwhile, the Braves are 4-1 in their last five in game one of a series and 4-1 in their last five home games. The under is 6-0-1 in Atlanta’s last seven in game one of a series and the over is 5-1 in their last six Thursday games.
Strasburg had a pretty up-and-down June, with two quality starts (four earned total) and three comparatively ugly outings otherwise (15 earned total). That said, Strasburg has been doing great in the record column since late May, and has gone an impressive 7-1 in his last eight starts.
Atlanta is pretty unpredictable these days, and with Strasburg in a nice groove I like the Nationals in this one despite the Wednesday meltdown.
