|Date & Time||Friday July 19, 2019, 7:05 PM (EDT)|
Baltimore Orioles +184 / Boston Red Sox -196 O/U: 10
The Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles will meet up on the MLB circuit to start their weekend series on Friday.
The Red Sox just got out of a series against the Blue Jays. Boston dropped the Tuesday game but picked up victories on Monday 10-8 and Wednesday 5-4. On Thursday, Boston kept it rolling with a 5-0 win.
For Friday’s game, the Red Sox will send out David Price in the start. Across 88.1 innings and a 7-2 mark so far, Price has a 3.16 ERA with 102 Ks and 24 BBs.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they just played a two-game set against the Nationals. Baltimore split those matchups, falling 8-1 Tuesday and winning 9-2 Wednesday.
For Friday’s matchup, the O’s will be sending out John Means in the starting role. Across 88.2 innings and a 7-5 record this year, Means has a 2.94 ERA with 73 Ks and 22 BBs.
The Red Sox are 4-0 in their last four in game one of a series and 4-0 in their last four Friday games. Boston is 5-2 in Price’s last five Friday starts and 35-17 in his last 52 starts.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are 15-41 in their last 56 Friday games and 13-38 in their last 51 after an off day. Baltimore is 13-51 in their last 64 in game one of a series and 14-38 in their last 52 home games.
Price has been very solid this year overall, and he hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in any of his last five starts. That combines for seven earned across 27.0 innings. Pretty good.
As for Means, he had a nice run of starts going (two or fewer in six straight) but coughed up six earned in 6.0 innings his last time up.
I’d like to take a shot on the Orioles here, but with Price on the mound I can’t do it. I’m going Red Sox.
