Baltimore Orioles -105 / Detroit Tigers -105 O/U: 9.5
The Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles will meet up on the MLB circuit Monday as they kick off their series.
Detroit just finished up a weekend set versus the Mets. After a 9-8 victory on Friday in the opener, Detroit lost the next two games by one run apiece: 5-4 Saturday and 4-3 Sunday for the series loss.
For Monday’s game, the Tigers will be sending out Daniel Norris for the start. Over 46.0 innings and a 2-2 mark this year, Norris has a 4.30 ERA with 33 Ks and 11 BBs.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they just played the Rockies this weekend. Baltimore fell Friday 8-6 but got a W on Saturday 9-6. In the Sunday rubber match, Baltimore blew a lead in the ninth inning and fell 8-7.
For Monday’s game, the Orioles will be going with Gabriel Ynoa for the start. In his 17.2 innings and 0-1 mark so far, Ynoa has a 5.60 ERA with 18 Ks and six walks.
The Tigers are 1-5 in their last six in game one of a series and 1-5 in Norris’ last six road starts. Detroit is 1-6 in Norris’ last seven starts with four days’ rest and 5-16 in his last 21 starts.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are 7-18 in their last 25 Monday games and 8-45 in their last 53 in game one of a series. The over is 3-1-1 in Baltimore’s last five in game one of a series and 5-2-1 in their last eight versus the AL Central.
Norris got busted up a bit versus Oakland May 17 with six earned in 5.1 innings, but came back with a quality start versus the Marlins his last time up. That makes just one time in the last five starts that Norris has allowed more than three earned.
As for Ynoa, he had a string of rough relief appearances this month (nine earned in 4.0 innings) but pitched well in his last outing.
All things considered, I’m going Tigers but likely staying away.
