Baltimore Orioles +100 / Detroit Tigers -120
The Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles meet in game two of a three game set in MLB action from Camden Yards on Tuesday night.
The Detroit Tigers will look to bounce back and even up the set after dropping game one on Monday by a final score of 5-3. Nick Castellanos went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI while Grayson Greiner went 2 for 4 with an RBI and JaCoby Jones added an RBI of his own to round out Detroit’s scoring as a team in the loss. Brandon Dixon had a double while Christin Stewart and Josh Harrison each had base hits to cap off Detroit’s offense as a team in defeat. Daniel Norris took the loss, falling to 2-3 on the year after allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits while walking three and striking out five over 5.2 innings of work. Matthew Boyd will start game two and is 4-4 with a 3.10 ERA and 80 strikeouts this season. In his career, Boyd is 0-0 with a 7.62 ERA and 13 strikeouts against Baltimore.
The Baltimore Orioles will look to build on their series opening victory over the Tigers on Monday. Renato Nunez had a home run and two RBIs while Jonathan Villar had a solo home run and Pedro Severino added an RBI of his own in the win. Hanser Alberto went 2 for 4 with a double while Trey Mancini, Keon Broxton and Stevie Wilkerson each had a base hit to round out Baltimore’s offense as a team in the win. Gabriel Ynoa gave up two runs on five hits while striking out four over four innings of work. Dan Straily got the win to improve to 2-4 on the year while Shawn Armstrong picked up his 1st save of the season. Dylan Bundy will start game two and is 2-5 with a 4.67 ERA and 52 strikeouts this season. This will be Bundy’s second career start against Detroit.
Detroit is 7-18 in Boyd’s last 25 road starts and 7-22 in their last 29 games overall while the under is 3-1-1 in their last 5 road games. Baltimore is 6-20 in Bundy’s last 26 starts and 29-73 in their last 102 games overall while the under is 5-0 in Bundy’s last 5 starts against the AL Central. Detroit is 1-5 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Baltimore.
I understand that Boyd is one of the better pitchers in the Tigers’ rotation, but I still don’t think that the Tigers should be favored against anyone on the road, even Baltimore. This is still a Detroit team that’s lost 12 of their last 13 games. Baltimore is one of the worst teams in the AL, but Bundy has pitched capably for the most part as of late and I think getting Baltimore at plus money at home should be the play here.
