Baltimore Orioles -140 / Detroit Tigers +130 O/U: 9
The Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles will meet up on the MLB diamond to finish up their series on Wednesday.
In the opener of this set Monday, the Orioles took a 5-3 win. On Tuesday, Detroit returned the favor with a 3-0 shutout win.
For Wednesday’s game, the Tigers will be sending out Ryan Carpenter in the start. In his 14.0 innings and 0-2 record, Carpenter has a 9.00 ERA with 12 Ks and four walks.
The Tigers secured eight hits in the Tuesday game. Tops in offense were Christin Stewart with two hits and a run, and JaCoby Jones with two hits and one RBI.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they’re going with John Means on Wednesday. Over 48.2 innings and a 5-4 mark this year, Means has a 2.96 ERA with 38 Ks and 15 BBs.
The Orioles couldn’t get much going on Tuesday, but put up six hits. Five of those belonged to Jonathan Villar (two) and DJ Stewart (three).
The Tigers are 1-5 in their last six Wednesday games and 0-6 in their last six in game three of a series. Detroit is 0-4 in Carpenter’s last four starts and 1-4 in his last five in game three of a series.
Meanwhile, the O’s are 19-48 in their last 67 in game three of a series and 0-5 in their last five Wednesday games. The under is 6-1 in Means’ last seven starts overall and 4-0 in his last four in game three of a series.
Carpenter has one solid start this year and a pair of bloated ones. In those he put up 13 earned in 9.0 innings on 16 hits. That said, last time up he went 5.0 innings with two hits and one earned.
As for Means, he’s been pretty consistent this year, which the Orioles sorely need. I like Means to keep it going here and help guide Baltimore to a finale win.
