Los Angeles Angels (17-17) at Baltimore Orioles (15-17)
|Date & Time||Saturday May 16, 2015, 7:05 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Baltimore Orioles -113 / Los Angeles Angels +103 --- Over/Under: 9
The Baltimore Orioles look to even their series with the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday.
The defending American League West champion Los Angeles Angels might be heating up and ready to make a run at Houston after defeating Baltimore 3-1 Friday for win number seven of eleven. Jered Weaver looked the Weaver of old with the lone run plated on three hits over 7.1 frames to get the win. The offense did just enough on seven hits and a pair of walks with Albert Pujols connecting on his 6th homer while Johnny Giavotella and Carlos Perez drove in runs. The Angels hope Matt Shoemaker can get a win when he is tabbed for Saturday’s start at Baltimore. Shoemaker is coming off of a 6-5 defeat to Houston where he was charged with all six runs on six hits including three homers in three frames.
The Baltimore Orioles are bringing up the rear in the American League East and look nothing like the team that stormed to the division crown a season ago. The Orioles offense was silent in the series opener against the Angels which squandered a solid outing from Wei-Yin Chen. Chen gave up two runs on five hits with two bases on balls and struck out seven through seven innings. The bats mustered just five hits and a walk and walked once with the lone run being a long ball off the bat of JJ Hardy. Bud Norris looks for consistency when he toes the rubber against the visiting Angels on Saturday. Norris is looking to rebound from a 6-2 loss at New York where he gave up four runs on six hits and three walks in 3.1 innings.
The Angels are 2-6 in their last 8 road games and are 11-1 in Shoemaker’s last 12 road starts while going 20-8 in Shoemaker’s last 28 starts. The under is 8-2-2 in Baltimore’s last 12 overall and is 5-2-2 in their last 9 on grass while the Orioles are 43-18 in their last 61 home games. The Angels are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings. Shoemaker looks like he is struggling a bit right now and Norris has done well in this match up so I’ll back the home team…
