The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Baltimore Orioles meet in game two of their three game interleague set in MLB action from Camden Yards on Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to focus on locking up home field after clinching their division with a 7-3 win in Tuesday’s series opener. Corey Seager went 2 for 5 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs while Cody Bellinger added an RBI and Gavin Lux went 3 for 4 with a solo home run and a double to finish off L.A.’s scoring as a team in the win. Chris Taylor and Joc Pederson each had a double with Pederson going 2 for 3 at the dish while David Freese also had two hits. Enrique Hernandez and Will Smith each had a base hit to finish off L.A.’s offense as a team in the winning effort. Walker Buehler got the win to improve to 13-3 on the year after tossing seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out 11 on the way to the win. Ross Stripling will start game two and is 4-4 with a 3.42 ERA and 80 strikeouts this season. This will be Stripling’s first career start against Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles will look to bounce back after yet another series-opening loss in game one on Tuesday. DJ Stewart had a solo home run while Renato Nunez added an RBI and Mason Williams went 2 for 3 at the dish. Hanser Alberto, Trey Mancini and Jonathan Villar each had base hits to finish off Baltimore’s offense as a team in the losing effort. Ty Blach took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the year after allowing six runs on nine hits while striking out three over just 2.1 innings of work in the start. John Means will start the second game and is 10-10 with a 3.50 ERA and 103 strikeouts this season. This will be Means’ first career start against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall and 7-3 in Stripling’s last 10 starts while the over is 5-1-1 in their last 7 road games. Baltimore is 2-5 in Means’ last 7 starts and 23-53 in their last 76 home games while the over is 7-1 in Means’ last 8 starts against a team with a winning record.

The Dodgers took step one by locking up their division, and now focus on clinching home field as step two. However, I wonder if there’s going to be one day for a letdown after clinching the division, and I think Wednesday could be that day. Stripling’s had some solid outings this season, but he’s still a pitcher with just five innings under his belt since the end of July. Means has also had his ups and downs on one of the worst teams in baseball, but he’s also responsible for almost a quarter of Baltimore’s wins this season and has allowed two earned runs or less in each of his last four starts. I don’t make a habit of backing Baltimore, especially against teams like the Dodgers, but I just think that if Baltimore was going to steal a game, it’d be this one, so I’d cautiously take a shot on Baltimore and the plus money if you must.

Pick:
Baltimore +163
