MLB | Minnesota Twins (59-75) at Baltimore Orioles (77-56)

The Baltimore Orioles and the Minnesota Twins face off on Saturday in Baltimore for game two of their series.

The Baltimore Oriole are looking to put away the AL East and they took another step in that direction as they pounded the Twins on Friday. Demon Young and Chris Davis hit home runs and Adam Jones added a hit as the Orioles scpred nine runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez allowed four hits and a run while striking out six over 7.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 7-7 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Orioles start Chris Tillman who has won his last four decisions. For the season Tillman has allowed 151 hits and 65 earned runs while striking out 116 over 171.2 innings for an 11-5 record and a 3.41 ERA.

The Minnesota Twins were absolutely blasted on Friday as they were whooped by the Orioles at Camden Yards. Trevor Plouffe hit a home run and Brian Dozier and Kennys Vargas each had hits as the Orioles scored once on four hits. Starting pitcher Trevor May looked not ready for the Majors as he allowed six hits and eight runs while striking out right over 4.2 innings to take the loss. For Saturday’s game the Twins start Kyle Gibson who has lost two of his last three starts. For the season Gibsin has allowed 142 hits and 69 earned runs while striking out 83 over 144 innings for an 11-10 record and a 4.31 ERA.

Baltimore is 5-0 as a favorite, 20-7 in their last 27 home games, and 4-1 in Tillman’s last five home starts. Minnesota is 2-7 following a loss, 3-9 in game two of a series, and 5-1 in Gibson’s last six starts as a road underdog. Minnesota is 2-6 in their last eight games in Baltimore.

We are at that point in the season where simply playing the better team is usually the better play making the Orioles at home the play here.
