New York Yankees: -1.5 (-145) / Baltimore Orioles: 1.5 (+125)
The New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles meet in game three of their four game AL East division set from Camden Yards in MLB action on Wednesday.
The New York Yankees will look to win the series and push for the sweep on Wednesday after an 11-4 win over Baltimore in game two on Tuesday. Clint Frazier led the Yankees by going 2 for 4 with a pair of home runs and five RBIs while Gary Sanchez had a homer and four RBIs. Gio Urshela had a double and an RBI while Gleyber Torres had an RBI of his own to cap off the Yankees’ scoring as a team in the win. DJ LeMahieu went 3 for 4 and Luke Voit had two hits while Aaron Hicks and Cameron Maybin added base hits as well in the victory. Domingo German got the win to improve to 9-1 on the year after allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits while striking out five over five innings of work. David Hale worked four innings of relief for his 1st save of the season. CC Sabathia will start game three and is 2-1 with a 2.97 ERA and 27 strikeouts this season. In his career, Sabathia is 20-11 with a 3.67 ERA and 227 strikeouts against Baltimore.
The Baltimore Orioles will look to bounce back and get on the board after a second straight loss on Tuesday. Stevie Wilkerson led Baltimore with a home run and three RBIs while Hanser Alberto went 2 for 3 with an RBI to round out Baltimore’s scoring as a team in the loss. Trey Mancini went 2 for 3 and Chris Davis added a double while Dwight Smith Jr. and Jonathan Villar each had base hits as well in the defeat. David Hess took the loss, falling to 1-6 on the year after allowing nine runs on eight runs while walking four and striking out five over five innings of work. Dan Straily will start game three and is 1-3 with an 8.51 ERA and 16 strikeouts this season. In his career, Straily is 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA and 7 strikeouts against the Yankees.
New York is 9-4 in their last 13 road games and 21-7 in their last 28 games overall while the over is 21-5-1 in their last 27 road games. Baltimore is 0-5 in Straily’s last 5 starts and 27-68 in their last 95 games overall while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 division games. New York is 19-7 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams and 16-5 in the last 21 meetings between these two teams in Baltimore.
I’d like to say the heavy plus money with Baltimore at home is tempting, but the fact is that the O’s are dropping games left and right, and Straily hasn’t the most reliable of arms this season, allowing 15 runs in 12 innings in his last three starts. The Orioles have also allowed double digit runs in three straight games while the Yankees have scored double digits in three straight. I just think this is another game that the Yankees are head and shoulders the better team and should be able to win this game handily, so I’ll side with the Yankees here and back them on the RL to squeeze some extra value out of the bet.
