|Date & Time||Friday June 1, 2018, 7:15 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Baltimore Orioles +160 / New York Yankees -170 --- Over/Under: 9.5
Coming up on Friday from Oriole Park, the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles will be continuing their MLB series.
In the Thursday opener, we had a rainout. That game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on July 9, and the starting pitchers have been pushed back to this matchup.
For Friday’s game, the Yankees will be going with RHP Sonny Gray. In his 49.2 innings and 3-4 record this year, Gray has a 5.98 ERA with 44 Ks and 28 BBs.
New York’s leading hitter this year is Aaron Judge, who comes into this set with 57 hits, 41 runs, 15 homers and 40 RBI. Miguel Andujar is second with 51 hits, 26 runs and 18 RBI.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they’re going with RHP Andrew Cashner on Friday. In his 60.1 innings and 2-6 record this year, Cashner has a 5.07 ERA with 54 Ks and 31 BBs.
Baltimore’s top bat is Manny Machado, with 71 hits, 30 runs, 16 homers and 45 RBI. Adam Jones is sitting on 63 hits, 24 runs and 26 RBI.
The Yankees are 4-1 in their last five versus the AL East and 10-4 in their last 14 road games. New York is 9-4 in their last 13 in game one of a series and 1-4 in Gray’s last five road starts.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are 5-1 in their last six Friday games and 8-19 in their last 27 in game one of a series. Baltimore is also 21-58 in their last 79 overall and 1-4 in their last five versus the AL East.
It’s been a pretty tough run for Gray lately, as he’s been all over the place. Gray has allowed five earned in two of his last three starts. As for Cashner, he gave up five on 11 hits in 5.0 innings his last time out. I have zero confidence in Gray right now, but I’m still taking the Yankees on the assumption their offense will bail him out.
