The Line: Baltimore Orioles +135 / New York Yankees -160 --- Over/Under:
Coming up on Monday out at Oriole Park, the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles will be finishing up their doubleheader with an early-evening game two.
The Yanks just finished up a set versus the Blue Jays this weekend. After splitting the first two games, on Sunday the Yankees managed to squeak by with a 2-1 victory in 10 innings.
On Monday, New York will be going with Luis Cessa in the doubleheader nightcap. Over his 9.0 innings and 0-1 mark this year, Cessa has a 5.00 ERA with nine Ks and five walks.
Coming into the week, Giancarlo Stanton led the Yankees on 88 hits, 52 runs, 21 homers and 51 RBI. On Sunday, Stanton logged a pair of hits.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they’re fresh off a series versus the Twins. After losing the first three games of that set, on Sunday Baltimore got crushed again 10-1.
For the Monday game, the Orioles will be bringing out Yefry Ramirez. This will be Ramirez’s third career start, and he’s 0-2 carrying a 2.51 ERA over 14.1 innings.
Baltimore’s top hitter is Manny Machado, and he entered the week on 104 hits, 43 runs, 21 homers and 60 RBI. In the Sunday game, Machado had two hits.
The Yankees are 36-17 in their last 53 in game two of a series and 3-8 in Cessa’s last 11 starts. new York is also 1-5 in Cessa’s last six road starts and 1-4 in his last five starts versus the AL East.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are 11-1 in their last 12 second games of doubleheaders and 14-41 in their last 55 in game two of a series. Baltimore is 1-9 in their last 10 Monday games and the under is 4-0 in their last four in game two of a series.
Cessa only has a handful of appearances to draw conclusions from this year, and just one start. That one occurred on June 27—the last time Cessa pitched—and didn’t work out very well. Cessa allowed three earned on five hits in 3.0 innings in a loss. I’m not all that confident in either pitcher here, so I’m going to take the Yankees based on offensive potential.
