Baltimore Orioles -106 / San Francisco Giants -104 O/U: 9
The San Francisco Giants and the Baltimore Orioles will meet up on Friday to kick off their weekend MLB series.
The Giants just finished up against the Marlins this week. San Fran dropped the first two games of that set 11-3 and 4-2, then on Thursday the Giants prevailed 3-1 to stop the sweep.
For Friday’s game, the Giants will be sending out Drew Pomeranz in the start. Over his 37.2 innings and 1-5 mark this year, Pomeranz has a 6.45 ERA with 41 Ks and 19 BBs.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they played the Tigers this week. Baltimore split the first two games of that set 5-3 (win) and 3-0 (loss) but lost the finale 4-2 on Wednesday.
As for the Friday game, the Orioles are sending out Andrew Cashner in the start there. Over 59.1 innings and a 5-2 record this year, Cashner has a 4.55 ERA with 48 Ks and 20 BBs.
The Giants are 1-5 in their last six Friday games and 0-6 in their last six in game one of a series. San Francisco is 1-4 in Pomeranz’s last five starts on grass and the under is 4-1 in his last five road starts.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are 5-2 in their last seven versus the NL West and 15-39 in their last 54 home games. Baltimore is 13-38 in their last 51 Friday games and 1-4 in Cashner’s last five starts.
Cashner had a nice run of three quality starts going, but in his last outing he gave up five earned on eight hits in 5.0 innings. That was in Colorado however, so take that with the proverbial grain of salt.
As for Pomeranz, he’s 0-3 in his last four games and gave up five earned on eight hits in 2.2 innings to the D-Backs his last time out.
I trust Cashner a little more here, so I’m going with the Orioles.
