Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Coming up on Thursday from Oriole Park, the Seattle Mariners and the Baltimore Orioles will be completing their MLB series.

The Mariners took the first two games of this set 5-3 and 3-2, then on Wednesday we had an 11-inning marathon as Baltimore snagged a tight 8-7 victory.

Mike Leake will be making the start for the Mariners on Thursday. Across his 100.2 innings and 8-4 record this year, Leake has a 4.11 ERA with 60 Ks and 23 BBs.

Tops in hitting for the Mariners this year is Jean Segura, who came into game three with 102 hits, 53 runs and 44 RBI. On Wednesday, Segura had two hits and three runs.

Over on the Orioles’ side, on Thursday they’re going with Jimmy Yacabonis on the hill. This will be Yacabonis’ first career start, as he’s filling in for the injured Dylan Bundy.

Heading into Wednesday’s game, Orioles lead hitters Manny Machado and Adam Jones were neck-and-neck with 90 hits apiece. In game three, Machado had two hits and two runs.

The Mariners are 4-1 in their last five during game four of a series and 5-0 in Leake’s last five road starts. Seattle is also 8-1 in Leake’s last nine starts and 5-1 in his last six starts with four days’ rest.

Meanwhile, the Orioles are 9-4 in their last 13 during game four of a series and 2-6 in their last eight Thursday games. The over is 10-3 in Baltimore’s last 13 in game four of a series and the O’s are 9-21 in their last 30 home games.

Looking at Leake’s recent performances, he’s done pretty well. In six of his last seven starts, he has given up two earned runs or fewer, going at least 7.0 innings in four of those. The one bad start Leake had in that span was against the Red Sox (6.0 innings; five earned in a loss) so take that one with a proverbial grain of salt. In any case, I like Leake to keep things rolling here and help get the Mariners a win. The line looks pretty enticing as well.

Pick:
Seattle Mariners -135
