The Line: Baltimore Orioles -112 / Toronto Blue Jays +102 --- Over/Under: 8.5
Wrapping up their series on Wednesday from Oriole Park, the Toronto Blue Jays will be meeting up with the Baltimore Orioles in MLB action.
The Blue Jays got a big win in the Monday opener, taking it 7-1. On Tuesday, Toronto eked out a 2-1 victory.
For the Wednesday game, the Jays will be bringing out RHP Marco Estrada. In his 13.0 innings and 1-0 mark this year, Estrada has a 2.77 ERA with nine Ks and four BBs.
Tops in hitting for the Jays coming out of Monday’s game was Justin Smoak with 15 hits, eight runs and 10 RBI. On Tuesday, Smoak plated a run while Yangervis Solarte managed two hits.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they’re running with Kevin Gausman on Wednesday. Across 9.0 innings and a 0-1 mark this year, Gausman has an 8.00 ERA with eight Ks and three BBs.
Heading up the Orioles’ offense coming into Tuesday was Manny Machado, with 15 hits, three homers and six RBI. In the Tuesday game, none of the top six Baltimore batters got a hit.
The Blue Jays are 0-6 in their last six Wednesday games and 5-1 in Estrada’s last six starts. The under is 13-5-1 in Toronto’s last 19 in game three of a series and the over is 8-3 in his last 11 road starts.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are 1-4 in Gausman’s last five starts and 1-5 in his last six home starts. Baltimore is 1-10 in their last 11 during game three of a series and 7-3 in Gausman’s last 10 starts versus the AL East.
The Orioles displayed some timely hitting and scrappy playing in the Yankees series, but much of that was probably due to the Yankees not being as good as advertised. As for Toronto, they’ve shown some flashes this year and it will be interesting to see how they maintain as the year wears on. In any case, I like Estrada here and I’m going with the Jays.
