Baltimore Orioles -101 / Toronto Blue Jays -109 O/U: 10.5
The Toronto Blue Jays and the Baltimore Orioles will meet up on the MLB diamond to continue their series on Wednesday.
In the Tuesday opener of this set, the Orioles scored three runs across the third and fourth innings, riding the wave to a 4-2 win.
For Wednesday’s game, the Jays will be sending out Edwin Jackson for the start. In his 19.2 innings and 0-4 record this year, Jackson has a 11.90 ERA with 15 Ks and eight walks.
Toronto put up just five hits in the Tuesday loss. Eric Sogard was the only player with two knocks, and he also hit a solo homer in the first inning.
Over on the Orioles’ side, they’re going with David Hess on Wednesday. With 61.0 innings and a 1-8 record this season, Hess has a 7.08 ERA with 50 Ks and 23 BBs.
the O’s offense was rolling along pretty well Tuesday, with 11 hits on the night. Jonathan Villar and Anthony Santander combined for five hits, two RBI and two runs.
The Jays are 10-29 in their last 39 Wednesday games and 1-4 in their last five in game two of a series. Toronto is 0-5 in Jackson’s last five starts and the over is 4-1-1 in their last six Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Orioles are 0-6 in Hess’ last six home starts and 0-10 in his last 10 with five days’ rest. Baltimore is 1-8 in Hess’ last nine starts in game two of a series and they’re 11-28 in their last 39 Wednesday games.
Well needless to say, this isn’t exactly a clash of the pitching titans right now, as both these guys are struggling in 2019. Jackson has coughed up a whopping 29 earned runs over his last four starts, and Hess has surrendered 23 earned over his last four.
This might be a good spot for the over if you like to mess with that number, and other than that I’ll take Hess and the O’s on him being the lesser of two evils right now.
